Today I went to a psychologist and told him about my social anxiety case and how it is affecting my work.
He told me that i have mild anxiety.
He suggested 4 options: anti depressant, xanax low dose, beta blocker, and CBT.
He mentioned that cbt is for the long run and takes time. He added that with anti depressant i cannot withdraw. He suggested xanax 0.25 since it works in the brain and told me to take it only in case of certain events (speech, meetings).
He suggested that i try it in a day i do not work in order to see how would i feel.
Has anyone gone through the same experience?
What is the side effect of it?
Thank you.

Your dr is great.. an antidepressant is a first line med, however they take awhile to kick in and if you are only anxious once in awhile you may not need that. Taking .25 of Xanax sounds reasonable if you are only going to use it as needed and not daily. Propanol 5-10 mg can be used 30 minutes before a presentation. Slows heart rate and blood pressure. And CBT you will learn coping strategies. Good luck
Side effect of Xanax is sleepy especially if you have not taken it before. You may want to try a test run some evening before you decide to take it before work and drive😊
So each time i will take xanax it will make me feel sleepy, so it is not useful and it may be worse than anxiety since it makes u sleepy and unable to focus.
I take it daily. So it doesn’t impact me at all. .25 you will be fine and trust me when I say .. it is useful. Not sure about cutting it to 12.5 but you can try that if it makes you more comfortable about taking it. You will feel effects within 15-20 minutes and it has the lowest half life of any benzodiazepine and really peaks at about 1.5 hours and after 4 hours you shouldn’t feel anything but relaxed, not sleepy.
