Someone to talk to.

HI everyone. I am new to this so I'm just going to ask my question and cross my fingers. I have recently relapsed with GAD and I am a mess. My mum just went home (to Australia) and I am all alone. I was trying to find someone to talk to, eg a counselor or psychologist, but I don't have the cash to do that at this time of year and it's not an immediate thing anyways. Any ideas on if there is a group or some sort of support I can reach out for straight away? I am having trouble dealing with the everyday. Please help.

Hi SweetieCass - and welcome to the site, you've come to the right place, though I'm sorry you're suffering like this. Your GP can arrange counselling, so they would really be the first place to start - there might be a waiting list, but if you explain to him/her that you need help NOW they might be able to help.

The Samaritans don't just run a suicide prevention service - they are there for people 24/7, whatever they're going through, and you can ring them, email them, or visit their branches to talk to someone face to face. Have a look at their website on:

samaritans.org/how-we-can-h...

The other possibility is Mind - they do have local support groups, although it does very much depend on where you live - it can be "patchy" - but worth a try. Also a good source of information and support. Go to; mind.org.uk/help/mind_in_yo...

Finallly - last but not least ;) - there's here!!! Most people on here know what you're going through - either going through it themselves, recovering, or have been there. We all understand, you can talk to us. Know it's not the same as face to face counselling, but it can help, specialy at this time of year when getting to see a counsellor will be difficult.

So, please, keep posting, hun, lots of support on here, and try the other contacts too. You're not alone any more!

Love

Rose xxx

Thank You all. Its really good to have something like this and I appreciate all the advice, thank you all so much. Unfortunately my GP does not think I am bad enough to jump me through the waiting time, just have to wait for my meds to work again. I think I a struggling alot with the 'failure' of having anxiety again. I was doing so well for a good 4 - 5 months, but this London winter is just bad, esp as Im from Australia and its summer at home.

Thank you all again for your help. I am considering writing a blog just to get it all out as I know you will all understand, but I feel that I will intrude on everyone if I do. I will think on it because thats what I always do! Anymore thoughts or suggestions, I would love to hear them all. Thanks again!

BLOG IT! Yes, I am shouting, lol, you can't "intrude" on here - it's what it's for, if getting it all out helps - then blog, blog, and blog again! xxxxxx

You certainly will not be intruding, vent your frustrations and anxieties here, people here will not judge and will be welcoming and give good advice when needed and understand what you are going through.

I say blog away, god knows how many times ive ranted on here and been really upset, and believe me, it really is helpful, better than any cbt counsellors anyday lol.

Hope you're feeling a little better today.

Ah the good old British weather eh claiming yet another victim to SAD, it is better when it snows, not this rain or wind, its a lot more miserable when it rains.

Hi Sweetie Cass , Blog away darling, I can sympathise with you for missing your beautiful weather having spent a lot of time over there. In fact the 2 winters I have spent there I was fit and well! This site is not exclusive , post whatever and whenever you like. I look forward to hearing more xElla x
