I'm sorry to hear that you're suffering and struggling so badly and that the medical community isn't helping. I'm not surprised about the latter to tell you the truth.

I would respectfully suggest going online and trying to find safe holistic ways to treat a chest cough like organic lemon and honey in clean water for instance.

I've cured many coughs with that.

Make sure that you always RESEARCH! RESEARCH! RESEARCH!

Before taking or doing anything which I'm sure you already know but I always say that to everyone. 😉

I forgot another helpful thing I've done. You might not be able to do this if you pay for your own water because it uses quite a bit.

I go in the bathroom and put the plug in the tub so the water doesn't drain out but rather collects, do not turn on the bathroom fan, do shut the bathroom door all the way, turn the shower water on as hot as it goes, put the toilet seat cover down and sit on it.

Breathe in the humid hot air for a good 20 to 30 minutes and it will break up all that junk in your lungs and bronchial tubes and you cough it up.

Don't swallow it spit it out.🙀🤪

Has your GP sent you for a chest x-ray? This should be the first thing they do if you've had a continuous cough.

My partner was in the same situation but was coughing for a much longer period. The GP according to protocols sent him for an x-ray, which came back clear. They then washed their hands of him and said it was 'probably' his asthma causing the coughing.

We knew something wasn't right so paid to see a private consultant, they suspected a number of things (which it wasn't) we had to fight to get any further tests with the GP. My partner was referred to an NHS consultant as the GP wouldn't follow any recommendations by the private consultant. Eventually after further tests his sputum sample showed microbacterium in his lungs (TB).

He is now on a long course (12 to 18 months) of 8 antibiotics a day to try and clear the infection.

If you have not been sent for a chest x-ray insist that your doctor sends you for one as you have a continuous cough and go from there. Keep pushing your GP, you have to advocate for yourself these days.

All the best to you, I hope you get to the bottom of it 🙂

I presume you tried mucinex for one of those weeks at least. Probably just thick mucous. Does it feel like something’s caught in your throat? Ask for an ultrasound (hopefully not cancer lump). My uncle had a fold in his esophagus that pills got stuck in, unbeknownst to him. I also was getting tickle throat and realized I wasn’t rinsing my night guard enough (soap on the throat).

I do have a coworker that's coughs all the time and it is reflux.

Doubt that is helpful right now as you are searching for a diagnosis

Second opinion, maybe?
