Can anyone out there share any beneficial experiences from CBT. I am wondering whether to have some or not, but much of my anxiety is triggered by thoughts that I know to be totally ridiculous.

CBT, will challenge these thoughts in a constructive and compassionate way.....never be scared (as it is confidential) to speak about these thoughts..... My only criticism was the gap between each appointment, but I never knew about this wonderful site...use it. I will add that to change your thinking takes time you could maybe ask for some material from the therapist to fill the gaps and read daily material which reinforces your mental wellbieng.......And don,t wonder..do it..what have you got to lose..things will only get better....good wishes........

Hi - it doesn't work for everyone but I had positive experiences with it so definately give it a whirl. And yes, a lot of my thoughts are ridiculous too!!!!

Good Luck.

It's not for everyone I think it divides people on here as much as the 'should I take medication' question but you have nothing to lose and possibly everything to gain so if you have the opportunity then why not.

Hope you do and hope it works out well for you.

HI

CBT certainly worked for me.I have suffered Panic Attacks and Health Anxieties for over 35yrs.

You have to do as the therapist tells you and believe in the treatment. Dont be negative and give in. I am now on Sertraline medication which is for General Anxiety and feel very positive about life. I am 61yrs old Both my parents suffered Panic Attacks when there were alive and 2 of my grown up kids suffer occasional Panic Attacks though I hide mine very well.

I am having bad bouts of Ectopic Heart beats at the moment but with all I learned with the CBT am able to put into practice to cope.

Good Luck x
