Been on Sertraline 125 mg for 17 days. When I bumped from 100 I had such increased anxiety and agitation. It seems to finally be subsiding. Very minor , anyone have experience with Sertraline. Looking for positive reinforcement.

I have been on 200mg of Setraline since 1996. I had an extended number of years 18-20 that I had no more anxiety or panic attacks. After my only child left home the anxiety and attacks have returned. I worry about him being able to take care of himself if something happened to my wife and I. I started drinking alcohol heavily and after about six months the panic attacks were back. Alcohol and setraline should definitely not be mixed. Since stopping drinking, it seems like the setraline has not been as helpful but my adult son isn't helping my mental state either. I think Setraline is a good medicine but make sure you read about the long term effects. With any medication I think it can affect your liver. Stay positive and let us know how it works out.
I hate some issues adjusting to sert but so far so good once they settled down. I know quite a few people who take it long term and swear by it. It is not the be all and end all but it gives you some breathing space to do whatever other therapy you need.
Hi what do you consider long term? I ha e been on 100 about 12 years was doing pretty good but last few months have been getting worse .felling anxious all day. My Dr has suggested increasing but I'm afraid about the side effects of adding.not sure what to do
People have been on it for decades. Obviously it would be better not to be on anything at all but it is also better to have anxiety under control. Have you considered other therapies like CBT? This guy is excellent (see link). He claims that talk therapy is the best long term solution, so maybe discuss trying it with your doctor if you don't want to increase the meds? drharrybarry.com/resources/
