Repeat blood test in 3 months - terrified.

I've been experiencing stomach issues for a couple of months - gas, gurgling and abdominal discomfort after eating. The gurgling has settled down a bit as has the abdominal pain. It's now slight discomfort but no cramping after eating. I had quite a few days where my stomach has felt back to normal. The doctor said there were no red flag symptoms but to come back if it didn't go away. FIT test has come back at 4. Awaiting results for H Pylori and Coeliac tests. However, yesterday I had a text from the surgery to say I need to repeat the blood test in 3 months.

I am terrified because I have read this means I have abnormal results. I have spent the last few months an anxious mess worrying I have cancer and now I've got another 3 months of worry ahead. I've also had a lot of personal stress when this all started. I've always had intermittent IBS symptoms and anxiety affects my stomach - it's now gurgling and windy again since receiving the text. The doctor is obviously suspicious about something. I don't know if it's a good idea to speak to him because if he tells me ' your levels of x are raised' I'll probably Google myself to death!

Hi Decodolly, don't drag your thoughts through the mud over the doctor suggesting

a repeat blood test. Anything may cause our test results to be a little too high or low

causing a red flag. HOWEVER, Having the doctor telling you to wait 3 months for a

repeat test usually isn't cancer caused. If it were something serious, the physician

would usually continue addressing the cause as well as perform more tests.

Breathe and live each day. You may very well see symptoms dwindling as you accept

and relax more. My best to you :) xx

I love how you say "google myself to death." That is a wonderful way to describe it and very true. I can do the same thing. I agree with Agora1. If the doctor thought it was cancer related he would not wait three months for repeat testing. Also, if there were a major and significant abnormality in a blood test they would not wait 3 months. x

Are you consuming any artificial sweeteners? Do you have acid reflux?

Don't worry, the fact they to wait 3 months tells you they are not concerned so neither should you be. Instead of Googling do something you enjoy, you deserve it. Wishing you peace and health.
