Faith and hope needed

I’ve been having heartburn and acid reflux for a 1 1/2 months accompanied with some stomach pain and belly gurgling. With this my Anxiety has been at its peak. I’ve lost 16-17 pounds since.. I have been on an extremely strict diet and eating small portions so the weight loss is explainable but then I wonder, is it really?

My cousin died two years ago of stomach cancer and I’m afraid I’m next..

Please give me some encouragement...

Im not a doctor, but it probably is your anxiety making you worry more than you should have to. Im sorry this is happening, and the added stress of your cousins death doesnt help, but it sounds like something you could definitely bring to your doctors attention( if you haven’t already) and if it is acid reflux, then its normally a manageable condition. your anxiety is taking control of your thoughts, i know its hard to fight it but you can get through these thoughts. As long as you know you’re taking care of your health, then odds are its your anxiety. I’m sure you know we’re here for you:)

Thank you so very much ❤️

you’re welcome :) judging by how you said you were on a strict diet, i assume you’ve spoken to your doctor about the stomach issues ?

Yes. I’m seeing a GI Wednesday but have wait weeks for the results.

Well then you’re on the right track for your physical health. i know its hard not to worry until you receive your results, but your mind has already prepared for the worst, so its time to hope for the best :) and try not to dwell on what your anxiety is telling you

That is the best advice given thus far. “Now it’s time to prepare for the best.”

Hello clopez1514. Sorry to hear about what you’ve been going through! Have you tried any medicines? I have struggled with an array of stomach issues for years and I can give you some medications that have helped immensely. Also try to remember that stomach cancer is rare so it is more likely something less drastic that is causing those symptoms.

Actually I got to still eat some of my favorites, watch your portions and don't gain the weight Back.

That's good that you're concerned about your health, that has to be FIRST. It won't hurt to lose a few pounds. Good luck

My fil just got diagnosed with stomach cancer unfortunately. His symptoms were vomiting and Diarrhea, literally not being able to keep anything down. And when his tummy was empty (which, with not being able to hold much food down) was a lot, he had painful burning in his stomach and he lost a heap of weight. At 1st he was diagnosed with a bug that they didn’t find until his 1st look inside the tummy with a camera. Which he was told could have been picked up with a stool or breath test. This type of bug can cause cancer if left untreated, but dr assured him no cancer. Any way months later still very unwell but bug cleared up, had another camera to take a look and this time diagnosed with cancer.

I think yours is probably anxiety related but hopefully dr might recommend you have camera too (sorry I can’t think of the correct name of the procedure)

I’m very sorry. It’s called an endoscopy. I have that scheduled but I just found out my CT of my stomach was clear.

I had a barium swallow which showed my problem to be reflux that allowed my food to stay too long in my esophagus. It would back up into my throat after eating a meal, to where I would continually have to cough and clear my throat. I now take zantac OTC with breakfast and before supper. That usually fixes my issues with digestion. Also we all need to take probiotics and eat yogurt. That also helps to straighten out alot of tummy gurgling and digestive issues.
