Palpitations in my neck and quivering in my jaw

Hello,I always had anxiety but recently I've had 2 episodes where my jaw has started quivering uncontrollably and along with this I feel strong palpitations and a burning feeling in in my neck. It seemed to have passed but then yesterday morning I woke up with it again. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced these symptoms 🤔 Is it just anxiety? or should I be worried? Thanks in advance!

Hi Fallin77, it does sound like what I use to get when driving. A quivering under

my jaw as well as a burning sensation down the back of my neck. I realized that

I was probably clenching my jaw at times. As for the burning in my neck, I've

had that for years. I've always carried my stress/tension in the back of my neck

causing me to jut my head forward. Of course it is always wise to call your doctor

to address these symptoms especially if they are new and concerning to you. :) xx

Yes, I've gotten burning in the back of my neck as well. How have you coped with it? Is there anything that has helped you with these symptoms?

Hi again Fallin77...don't underestimate what anxiety can do to us. However, it is always

best to see a physician to check out the reason behind this. Palpitations are different

then the burning sensation in the neck. When our muscles get overworked from stress

and worry, they do tend to burn just as when we work out and feel the burn in our muscles.

I'm not qualified to tell you for sure what's behind these symptoms. I can only tell you

what I experienced in my life. Once I knew it came from anxiety, I was sent to Physical

Therapy in order to release the trigger points in my upper shoulders and neck. They

used massage therapy, heat and stretching exercises. At home I used listening to

relaxation tapes over and over to release the tension. Working with a Rheumatologist

can help as they address muscles, ligaments and soft tissue.

All this means nothing unless your doctor diagnoses it as coming from anxiety and not

a different physical cause. I wish you well. Keep as updated. Meanwhile, warm a towel

in the dryer and then wrap it around your shoulders. It will help bring your shoulders down

away from your ears, help you relax and feel like a warm hug. I care :) xx
