Hello! New to the group and wondering if this is the right group or should I find a more appropriate group.
I am looking for support regarding my adult son who has anxiety, which contributes to his inability/unwillingness to make decisions that will lead to him becoming fully independent.
I'd like support and advice so that I can learn how to avoid making the situation worse and to get ideas to help him reach the independence goal. For example, how can I help him take ownership of this goal and take steps towards the goal? As of now, he has been stuck for three years with little/no progress. The goal of reaching independence feels very much like my goal and not his goal.

If you live in the US you can contact your local NAMI chapter, they usually have support groups and resources for those with mental health issues and for families of those who have mental health issues. You might also spend some time on youtube, there is a lot of good info on there about supporting someone with anxiety/depression, I particularly like Emma at Therapy in a nutshell, Julia Kristina and Matthew Codde at Restored Minds.
