All started with a back injury, was off work for 6 weeks, all the time worrying about being off for so long. Loosing my job. Went back to work for a couple of weeks, had a trapped nerve in my back that would wake me up at night then I couldn’t get back to sleep. Ended up like a zombie due to no sleep. Had a breakdown due to everything getting on top of me. Lost 2.5 Stone in weight. Been off work for 6 months now, work trying to get me back in next month. So scared about going back after all this time. Anxiety really kicks in. Scared they will get rid of me with some poor productivity issue. Then I’ll lose my house ect ect. Crapping myself

Yes, it sounds like the snowball effect of anxiety is getting to you, where your mind sees nothing but the all the terrifying possibilities for what could go wrong, and that can be paralyzing in itself. In fact, I call it "spinning up" where everything in mind tells me its already too late to stop the bad. Boy!! Get a grip on that before it grips you! When you feel that happening, ground yourself in breaking things down to the details of what's going on.1. You're scared to return to work. Thats natural, but your fear of bad things does not mean bad things are about to happen. Thats just the fear getting to you.
2. Its possible they could try to get rid of you, but its equally possible that they are not. You can't control their motivations, but you can control your work performance.
3. Expect yourself to be a little rusty after 6 months. Remind yourself to : "be patient with myself".
4. don't let what you can't control control you.
Have you gone to see a doctor yet? Are you able to do very light exercises? What options do you have that have shown you improvement so far??
