Me too, finding the right med for me really helped make a difference, it allowed me to finally feel what "normal" felt like.

The only med that directly helped my anxiety was Klonopin but it's a benzo and they don't prescribe it long-term. I'm now on Pristiq which helps with mild depression and OCD ruminating and balances things out. For the anxiety I had to learn how to deal with it by learning how to accept the anxious thoughts and feelings and tolerate them. The DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos were very helpful and I really like their phone app, it's like having my own personal coach. Also, learning and practicing simple mindfulness has really helped to be able to not engage with the anxious thoughts and let them go.

How is the Pristque working for you so far? Any side effects?

It's working fine and no side effects. I found out I have the COMT gene mutation and am taking SAMe, methyl folate, Vit. B-12 and magnesium glycinate to supplement which aid in leveling out mood and helping lower anxiety.

Been on and off effexor XR for 17 years. Went up and down on doses. I just came to finally realize that staying on the lowest dose was like keeping oil in my car. I function much better with it.

It literally started out of nowhere- had a panic attack. I suppose it was that time in my life with toddlers and babies. Since then- it just would creep up on me- sometimes fear induced ( mainly about events regarding my family) or just for nothing I could pin point. I will say, that the more you are afraid of the symptoms- the worse it gets, that’s why I suggested those books to help. Prayer, meditation, taking better care of myself, has helped a lot. I’ve learned to “ let go and let God”. I’m not 100 percent there yet- but am on my way. I may never get there entirely- but it’s “ progress… not perfection”.

Mine started when my dad passed away a lot of years ago again like u out of the blue didn’t no what was happening to me . Now if there is any major change in my life I’m seen to get anxiety .My son and wife and baby are moving out from my house and that seems to trigger it of this time . At least I manage to go to work and keep busy so that helps. Are u working? It’s the physical feelings I get with the anxiety upset stomach and the tiredness

I took them in the past but had a lot of side effects so I had to go off them. But they work for a lot of people so it’s something to consider trying.

Venlaphaxine has helped for me. I reduced the dose though over a few months and while at first I was fine I then had another big bout of anxiety. I've now put the dose back up (all in consultation with my doc) and am feeling a bit better. It takes a while to work though.

Hi I have gone back on them 2 weeks ago still not myself a bit calmer. I find it hard coping with anxiety. Did u have any side effects?

That's good that you notice an effect at 2 weeks, it means they are working. The general advice seems to be that it takes 6-8 weeks to get the most effect. When I increase the dose I find I feel down for a few days, but then that goes. I also lose my sex drive for a few weeks, but that returns too. No other side effects.

You?

Hi I feel nauseous but I think that’s the anxiety coming out. I manage to work and keep myself busy .I wake early in the morning and can’t get back to sleep but I’m sure it will improve the longer I am on the meds.
