Hi - what you are describing is very common. If you have anxiety, you have anxious irrational thoughts that are laced with fear. Those thoughts can be about anything. One of the most common themes is health but the thoughts could very easily be about anything else which you might care about and thus challenge or recoil in fear.

It is the fear that gives those thoughts a false sense of importance which the anxiety sufferer then worries about (what if it's true, what if I have a dodgy heart, what if?? etc etc) adding yet more stress and fear to the stress and fear that is already present.

To escape this vicious cycle and recover from anxiety, look up Dr Claire Weekes and follow her teachings in full.

Happened to see this during a very anxious night. I get it, I’m always worried about my breathing and my heart but medically, I’m totally fine. Listening to calm music and playing logic based games on my phone helps as well as the Breathe app. Sometimes even a little walk around the house to get my nervous energy out helps too. And last tip is to use the stopwatch feature on your phone and keep track of how long it takes you to feel better and more calm.

Hi Saz12345,

In early 2019, I related directly to your post. My heart palpatations were sooo bad I was certain I was going to have a massive heart attack. I had many doctor vists that all resulted in them telling me I was healthy, and to "go home." While I was trying to convince them they were wrong.

I took me a while to realize I caused a muscular imbalance in my body, do to lack of proper training and I wasn't eating properly. The musclar imbalance caused me to hold gas in my body, also it caused me to lower my shoulder height.

These to things --together-- caused more compression and pressure inside of my respiratory and digestive sytems. This compression revealed itself in the form of gas, muscle pains (the pain was mainly in my shoulder, neck and vack), heart palpatations, and full-on breath taking anxiety/panic attacks at the worst of it.

I tried medicine, which did help with the muscle tension I experienced, but personally I didn't want to medicate my way back to normalcy. So, slowly but surely I learned how to address the issues through diet and exercise.

I'm not exactly sure, but it sounds like you're in a situation simlar to me, so maybe I can help you.

Do you experience muscle pains in your neck or shoulders that's associated with your arm pain?

Also, do you watch what you eat, like have you idrntified things that lead you toward an attack or just make you feel bad?

Do you exercise? If so, what do you do?

Also, i forgot to mention that I have/had an arm "thing" going on too. It would start with pain in my neck, back, or shoulder. Then my right arm would get colder....at the worst of this my arm would turn bluish! This has only happened twice, luckly the doctors got to see it the second time, because I recovered before I made it to the ER the 1st time ANNNDDD they didn't believe me! That helped me confirm that i was compressing some areas of my body so hard that it was causing my muscles to hold tension constantly.

Anyways, let me know if you want to talk or just respond and I'll let you know how I got back to normal and maybe I'll be able to help you do the same!

I think the key to your situation may not necessarily be linked to exercise. Strenuous exercise can cause muscular pain but can also be a symptom of anxiety due to the tension and stress you are putting yourself under worrying about your health. If you have health anxiety, it is very common to believe that you are having a heart attack, despite being given the all clear by your doctor because you have chest pains. Those chest pains are likely to be a symptom of anxiety caused by prolonged tension in those chest muscles. Try tensing another muscle continuously for a few days and see how that feels?

The fact that you said you hate this implies to me that the root cause is likely to be your intense dislike of the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing. In other words, you fear the feelings of fear. Those feelings can be physical or emotional or both but either way, the problem with many sufferers is usually trying to cope with anxiety as opposed to there being an underlying problem.

I've been there and got the t-shirt. The books written by Dr Claire Weekes who I mentioned in my last post helped me out of that hole and will help you too. It's all about facing those fears and developing a different attitude towards those symptoms you hate. Accepting them instead of fighting them.

Best wishes

If you're comfortable enough, I would like to setup a Zoom chat with you. I went through this same exact feeling.. Had multiple D-dimers to check for a clot. Glad to say I was wrong, there was no blood clot!

I get this all the time. I constantly think I have something wrong with me. The physical symptoms are there it really does feel real. I always find when you suffer from any kind of anxiety disorder your doctor will always put symptoms down to anxiety. Which makes me feel worse as I feel like they could be missing something. It really is scary sometimes but we are all in this together. I find it so helpful reading through some of these posts especially at night time when I’m in bed worrying about having things wrong with me x

Yes. Head feels off balance and what I call “wobbly.” Nothing magic or quick can take your anxiety symptoms away but if you let them happen and realize they’re not going to kill you, they will bother you less and your anxiety will diminish and take some of the symptoms away. It’s a long road of self talk and learning coping mechanisms.
