I haven't posted in a while, as things had been better! But I have a long, scary update. About 6 weeks ago, in the span of a few weeks, I bought a house, moved into the house, had a wedding, and changed jobs. My "nervous tummy" went a bit bonkers. One morning, I was on a run, and I had to use the bathroom. I was miles out. I had to run all the way back. The next day, there was blood in my stool. I saw a doc. He said it looked like local irritation. Things went back to normal. Then 3 weeks later, I had more tummy issues, and saw pink on my TP. Saw a different doc. They said likely irritation. 2 weeks later, a little pink again. My doc said "time for a colonoscopy." I'm terrified. Just terrified. It's Monday. I've been changing my diet in preparation. I normally eat lots of veggies. Can't do that now. So today, I had a bunch of eggs, which I don't normally do. Got horrid diarrhea, and now the pink TP is back. I'm CONVINCED this is colorectal cancer. My cousin, who is my same age (43), was diagnosed with it last year at stage 3. I'm in a whole new level of panic. I don't even know what to do. And I've still got to go through the bowel prep, which will mean more pain and bleeding. I'm CONVINCED I'm going to leave my new wife behind and that this is the worst case scenario. Just needed to share.

Colonoscopy anxiety
Don't freak out! Colonoscopy is very easy and a simple way to find out what's going on. A lot of rectal bleeding is caused from both internal and external hemorrhoids. I know it's hard but no reason to think the worse.Hang in there!
Pink blood is a classic sign of haemorrhoidal bleeding from the anus, which can happen with both diarrhoea and constipation - as the GP says, it’s likely to be irritation, as both conditions can be very aggressive! I would have expected bleeding from the colon to be much darker, because the blood would have been subjected to various digestive mechanisms.
I’ve been through all this and nothing was ever found - doesn’t cure the IBS, but at least I know there is nothing sinister going on. The colonoscopy prep was horrible, but a small price to pay for some reassurance.
