I have panic disorder, anxiety and health anxiety ,I have panic attacks all the time and due to the health anxiety I was scared to take any sort of medication, anything like paracetamol, antibiotics, anything- I am scared of dizzy I was or being allergic - Anyway my anxiety got sooo bad I got prescribed my first ever prescription anti depressant and I was very reluctant to start them as I was TERRIFIED they wouldn't do what they were suppose to do and just make me sick or die.. I took them anyway because I somehow convinced myself in my state that it would help, and a year later I can still take them daily but still too scared to take anything else- I am now tapering off of them because of weight gain but been given propanolol and it sounds like a wonder pill- and I’m still too scared to take it- any help/advice/guidance would be much appreciated xx

Fear of medication
My advice would be to research the propanolol until you are well acquainted with it, in that you know all there is to know about the medication. Be sure to look for reputable sites when researching. Then do what you have already done and keep asking others what their experiences have been with it. This may help to ease your anxiety some.
Of course, talk it over with you doctor and let him/her know how you feel and how it makes you anxious. Take your time and do not feel rushed into taking it.
Hi I also have health anxiety panic disorder GAD and panick attacks... my biggest fear Is becoming ill but I'm also petrified of medicine. Such a crap way of living x
They just calm the heart rate when you get in a panic. Not good for people with asthma though. My daughter who is a nurse says they help her a lot. Love and good luck
Thankyou xI am slowly coming off my setraline and feeling like crap- been on it over a year now
