Anticlimactic result

I got a procedure done called Mira dry. It’s a procedure that gets rid of excessive sweating and I was real excited about it because I was so embarrassed about sweating. But, now that I’ve got it, I’m not sweating in my armpits at all, but I’m not feeling this overwhelming sense of joy either. And even though I’m not as angry about this anymore, but the day I got the procedure, I had to put ice packs on my underarms to help with the swelling and they were really hurting. And my dad let it slip that my mom still had narcotic pain pills around (she needed them for a health issue) but they wouldn’t give them to me because they were worried that I’d get addicted to them!!!! And every time I think about that, that ruins my happiness. I’m not sure how to be happy about this procedure when my parents wouldn’t let me manage my pain! They only would let me have what they prescribed which was ibuprofen, which didn’t do anything! This makes me nervous because I feel like whenever I look forward to something and then I get it, it’s always anticlimactic.

Hi, I think I have to take your parents side. The reason I feel this way is that I’m an opiate addict and wish someone would’ve stopped me before I took that first pain pill! Your parents are right: pain pills are extremely addictive. I’ve been though years of agony fighting an opiate addiction. I’ve done things I’m ashamed of trying to get pills to maintain my addiction. And,the worst part is the WITHDRAWAL when you try to stop! Don’t think you won’t get addicted just by taking one or two pills. I became addicted after the first pill. And it’s impossible to know if you’re one of the ones that would respond that way. Please don’t take that chance! I’ve found out that over the counter meds work really well for pain that isn’t severe. Just please understand if you get addicted your life will NEVER be the same.

I’m sure everyone would take my parents side and I understand. I just needed to vent that’s all

Sorry I am with your parents on this too. I understand you are in pain but this medicine is far too strong and dangerous to take without prescription.

One of my sisters has very severe osteoarthritis and is on morphine. I have a very bad back and a couple of times she offered me a swig of it. I said no way jose and never offer me anything like that again.

Strong painkillers aren't sweets you know and can seriously mess with your head and your body. If your parents had given them to you they would be derelict in their duty and care of you. Be guided by them as they are right and only looking out for you.

I think the anti-climax is because it's obviously something you have looked forward to for a long time and it's natural to feel a bit flat afterwards. It happens even when there is good change. You will feel great about it again soon.

Try aspirin, or other OTC pain relievers. If the doctor thought the pain would be so severe he would have given you a prescription for a few pain relievers. I side with your parents as well. It is necessary to learn to tolerate some pain for a day or two.

My pain is gone now. I just dealt with it. Because I had to. I don’t feel as angry at them. But thanks.

I'm glad you're feeling better. What did the procedure consist of? Did they do it just for the armpits or does it work for the whole body? I sweat excessively too and wondered if they could do anything for it. Thank you in advanced.
