Hello everyone I just need someone to chat to through all of this as I’ve been to my GP as I have a constant tension headache for over a month now that’s constantly making me in agony, dizzy, confused, eye problems (which I’m booking an opticians appointment for) and just over all in pain when I bend down or stand up making my head feel tighter and it’s always worrying me but I’ve spoke to the doctor when I first had an appointment about my chest and anxiety before I said anything about my head pain and they did barely anything to help with anxiety I got told to exercise and download apps to help me which honestly haven’t done anything and I find it hard to be understood and not looked at as a joke as I feel like I’m labelled a hypochondriac non stop when I know my pain is real and constant daily pain. I just feel really alone with my health and mental health and it’s crippling.

Tension headaches and vision issues
Hiya.. I have a lot of headaches, when I was younger in my twenties, I remember it went on for months. I had a brain scan, all came back clear. Once you start to worry it's a vicious circle , and difficult to break. Like you say the pain is real. I am suffering from joint pain can't sleep. Hopefully we both break the cycle , and get through it
I hope you’re doing okay! And I honestly feel so much pain non stop with maybe a day or a few hours break from the pain and then it’s back... I use paracetamol but I want to try CBD oil but I’m unsure if it’ll help me at all... I just worry so much it’s it’s a vicious cycle of stress and my anxiety is so draining as I just feel alone with my mental health.
I've just had some ibuprofen, i am trying to do some breathing techniques to try and relax , I worry about going to bed because it gets worse. Does your pain move about .
Yeah my pain can move about to anywhere in my head and just get so much worse if I get a really bad pain near my eyes my eyes go funny as well Like I see lines or blocked vision so I’m getting a appointment at the opticians I just really need to try and find good coping mechanisms for the stress
Hi Clo_xo- I suffered for years (yes, years) with daily tension headaches that prompted visual disturbances as well. In between the tension headaches were migraines.
They say if your feet hurt than your whole body hurts. Well try living with head pain on a daily basis. It was back then, that I started seeing black floaters. From there the visual effects went to seeing blood spiders and flowers on the ceiling when waking up at dawn.
*and yet eye exam was okay
I had an MRI and that was fine. And so it boiled down to severe stress.
The daily headaches were diagnosed as Contraction/Tension Headaches with intermittent hormonal migraines.
Several triggers besides stress was dehydration (a big one) as well as trigger points in my neck and shoulder area which cause referred pain to the head. Too much pain medication could cause rebound pain so I felt I needed to find a way to treat these headaches safely.
Physical therapy to release the spasms and allow the lymphatic fluids to flow helped immensely with the tightness when bending or stooping. Learning Muscle Relaxation techniques helped quiet down the pain and allow for a good night's sleep which was another important factor with headaches. Watching Caffeine, MSG intake helped. Last but not least for me was watching the alignment of my neck when sitting. Anxiety tends to make us hold our head and neck in a jutting position which develop the trigger spasms.
So Clo, it's not a simple straight answer should the pain end up being from stress and anxiety but it is fixable just as soon as we find what works for us. Good Luck with the eye doctor, let us know the outcome. You certainly aren't alone. xx
I have suffered with tension headaches for years on and off and the only thing that relieves them are Syndol tablets (the ones with doxylamine). They get rid of the headache within 30 mins. They do make you a little drowsy so best to take when not driving. Check with the pharmacist first though if you are on any other medication. I would give them a try. Good luck.
I know the feeling love I’ve got health anxiety and it’s killing me I feel so shaky exhausted all the time xx
