Hi all, I suffered daily if anxiety and no matter what medication I've taken, even upping the milligrams, it's not making much difference. I would love even 1 day of feeling great and calm but it's not happening and I stress about everything and anything. I have GP's that are overwhelmed between the pandemic and the amount of mental health cases I understand that don't have time so I hate to ask for more help. I did get cognitive behaviour therapy with 6 sessions but It never worked for me as I would try anything to relieve the symptoms. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated 🙂
Feeling permanently anxious. : Hi all, I... - Anxiety Support
Feeling permanently anxious.
Hi, I suffer with panic disorder and I have done for some time. I’ve tried numerous medications and I’ve had CBT therapy and counselling, over the course of 5 years.
My advice for CBT therapy is to persist with it, it took me a long time to implement CBT in to my every day life.
I would also recommend mindfulness, for example counting objects and looking for colours. I know it sounds silly but when I find myself in crisis I use these to remind myself I am in the present.
CBT therapy helps you to accept anxiety and it teaches you to manage, it’s all about facing your fears. The more you run away from triggers the worst it becomes.
I know how terrible Anxiety can be so if you need to ask anything else I’ll be happy to answer.
I can answer based on my personal experiences with anxiety and depression.
I've dealt with anxiety on and off for years and done various forms of therapy. I've also been on various meds and although they helped some, I still had anxiety. I've also done a lot of self education about anxiety. I recently had a setback and got out my DARE anxiety book and then signed up for the program. It really helped me to remind myself of what works and how to deal with anxiety and I liked the phone app, it's kind of like having a coach. He incorporates a lot of information from other anxiety experts like Claire Weekes into his program and presents it in a simple and easy to understand manner. The program teaches you how to stop fighting and accept and recover from anxiety. I wish this kind of information had been available when I first had anxiety years ago.
