Doctors duty of care

I always thought that doctors have a duty of care to their patients but after cutting my anxiety tablets to a manageable minimum and bearing in mind I am 72 and my dear husband is 83, in the middle of this pandemic I receive a letter sent out from my surgery from a clinical pharmacist saying they were going to cut my tablets down in the future, even stop them completely. I was so upset after 8 months isolating and looking forward to seeing our family for the first time at Christmas in months they send out a letter like this. No consultation, no discussion, no asking how I am doing. Well at the moment I have bronchitis which I thought was probably Covid at first but after a negative test a lovely older fashioned locum diagnosed me over the phone and sent antibiotics to local pharmacist. He was so reassuring, I only wish he was my doctor. He was probably one of the locums IC24 have on a panel to prescribe after being triaged by NHS 111. These months have been so difficult but my surgery has no empathy at all.

Wow, I am pretty shocked! No explanation, no anything then BAM you're on your own. Are you tablets a controlled substance? Is it possible you can try another dr.? What your Dr. is doing just wrong. I am extremely fortunate to have a dr. who is a "real" person first and foremost.

Thanks for that. Yes our practice is particularly bad, part of College Healthcare and they have a rapid turnaround of staff and trainees.

I think Lorazepam is one of the lower controlled drugs on schedule. But the guidelines for these on the Government guidelines for pharmacists is very much keep people supplied and guidelines on my doctor's website is, we will be letting everyone on the repeat form if they need a medicine review and there was nothing on my prescription form. Healthcare in my area in Medway is getting really bad and we are also in tier 3 now so anxiety is rife.

Does not happen to be anywhere near Medway by any chance which seem to be all the same.
