Don’t know what to do

I recently have been on Prozac 10mg but have noticed my sex drive has been low and I read that it can make you fall out of love! I have been with my boyfriend for 7 years and I can not let this side effect go. I don’t know if it’s actually happening to me or if I just read that and now can’t let it go! I want to get off Prozac ASAP and try Zoloft since I was on it for 6 years previously and didn’t have any problems! I feel like an awful person for having those thoughts and I don’t want to hurt my boyfriends heart but telling him my anxiety. I don’t know what to do and jus don’t know if I can even handle medication at this point bc I dwell so so so much on the side effects. Whenever I starting thinking like this I feel my face get hot and my whole body feels sick and hot all over, I just don’t want to feel like this.

Most anti depressants can reduce your mojo a little but it will come back..this is why I don't read the side effects or anything because I start to think I have exactly what they say... If you keep feeling like this though go consult you're Dr

Take care

Aww just give it a little time sweetie. Why has the Dr taken you off Zoloft if you were ok on it?? Prozac is a lot stronger than Zoloft isn't it..

Just let the Prozac get in you're system give it at least 2/3 weeks then you should start picking up but if you're not feeling right after a few weeks then you're Dr may have to put you on something else

You're very welcome

Take care

I took myself off Zoloft after high school I was off medication for four years I’m 23 now and I was coping pretty well but with this pandemic my anxiety has spiked so much and I thought a little medication could help but now I just think I’m more anxious than I have ever been before. I feel stuck in a sinking boat and just wish I felt better!

Can you talk to your boyfriend about your concern? It might be good to give him a heads up to what is going on and to get his support.

I have spoke to him about it and he’s so supportive and great and understanding which is why I feel so awful feeling this way. He does everything for me and it’s always about me and the last month I have been so up and down he’s taken me to the Er three times and he’s still here. I just don’t know if I should stay on meds or get off. Idk which will make me feel better and like myself and I’m scared I will be stuck this way forever

That is great that he is supportive. Don't be surprised if he notices a positive change in your mood before you do. I have been on and off antidepressants a few times and it always seems that someone else will say they notice a change in my mood before I do. Others have said the same thing.

As far as side effects, if you experience what you are concerned about, you can always ask your doctor for a change in prescriptions. Everyone is different and it might not even become an issue for you.

Thank you Marshall64 I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I am going to give my doctor a call and talk about how I have been feeling, hopefully I start feeling better soon!

I have had a lot of experience with anxiety and depression and like with most anti-depressants in the group called SSRI’S, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, they have can have an effect on sexual function and take away some of the feelings that can stop a man from keeping an erection or ejaculating. In fact one of the anti-depressant is sometimes used in younger men to prevent premature ejaculation. It depends on dose and age of the person and is variable and not specific.

check with your doctor maybe there is something else you can take or lower that dose
