Anxiety what to do

I have been signed off for 3 weeks with anxiety and depression been given Prozac. My boss rang me last week see how I was. I told her I'd be back when my sick note ran out (this Friday) but I don't think I can. Does anyone know what I should do. My anxiety is really bad and I've only been taking the Prozac for 3 days. Any advice for me

Hi mrs P i really don't think you have been on your Prozac long enough to really feel the positive benefits and I really feel the answer is Your not ready to go back to work yet I would ring your GP get an appointment and get another sicknote I think you know in yourself you're not ready when you are upset and feeling depressed it doesn't always go as quickly as we would hope it would so get a sick note keep taking Prozac for a little bit longer and hopefully you'll soon be feeling better and ready for work but at the moment I really don't think you're ready lots of love take care Tina x

Hi Tina thanks for the advice. I work in a busy supermarket. I know the meds take 3-4 weeks to have positive effects. I've always been a happy-go-lucky kind of person so this has really floored me and I'm not ready the anxiety is with me all the time. I'm just worried about work because I told them I would go back when my sick note ran out so they sorting my shifts out but I can't go back. Thanks for the advice x

I'd ask for more time off mrsp. I've been off for 8 weeks now but I think I'm ready to try and go back this week.

And don't worry about work. Your Heath is far more important, don't give yourself anymore to worry about :-)

Thanks for the advice. I think I need to start putting myself first. I suppose my health is more important than work. I'll make an appointment to see doctor and take each day as it comes x

You got that right you need to put yourself first the supermarket will still be there without you and they cannot sack you or finished you just because you're ill you need to make sure you're feeling better before you go back less you will just go on a downward spiral and end up even worse than you are now don't be afraid to speak to GP neither telling him your fears they really can help stay home keep safe and good luck xx Tina

hi, I know exactly how you feel. I tried loads of different meds and the only one that helped me was 40mg fluoxtine (prozac). Keep with it as i felt the difference within 2-3 weeks. it changed my life, i dont feel fear in the day anymore and can actually go out. i stayed in for nearly 2 years. I do sweat a lot at night but they tell me this is still anxiety. good luck you will feel better soon.
