Racing heart

I know I posted about this recently, but I’ve been so worried about my heart. It races and pounds constantly. I need some reassurance. I’m hoping this is just stress and anxiety and not an underlying heart condition. I keep thinking I’m going to drop dead or die in my sleep of a heart attack. I’m going to call my doctor and request some tests. I’ve had an EKG done several times before and my doctor has listened to my heart many times and even though my heart rate is always over 100, she was never concerned. But I’m thinking I should get more tests done.. like a heart monitor or whatever else they do that more accurately shows if there’s something going on. I try my best to eat healthy but lately I haven’t been as active since the coronavirus started, and I definitely feel more of a tightness in my chest and shortness of breath and like my heart races and pounds more whenever I just stay home and don’t exercise. I hope this is just my anxiety and not being as active as usual, that way I know I’m okay and just need to take better care of myself physically and mentally and that I don’t have anything serious and fatal

Omg I’m in the same hole right now I was going to start working out but I’m scared to walk or do anything which I think will make it worse . I want to go to the doctors again to make sure it’s nothing serious I have had ekg and chest x ray also and I’m convinced maybe the problem just occurred I barely sleep at night

It is your anxiety and not being more active is having you tune into your anxiety more. Not that your are feeling new or worse physical symptoms of anxiety.

Exercise is so good for your health and even anxiety. Being more mobile and busy doing things that occupy your mind as while your doing those things keeps you from ruminating and being tuned to it. My advise is get into a daily rhythm where eating, exercise, non exercise activities and sleep are more of a priority not less.

Hi Savannah,

Sounds like your anxiety has been playing up again.

The doctor has provided medical advice that you are okay. While anxious this info is hard to process and accept.

Until you can learn some techniques to work through your anxiety, you will be continously troubled by it.

Help is available from a therapist, self help books, online and medication. There are telephone help lines you can talk to 24/7, depending on your location. Check your government health websites for this info.

If you don't have one, please consider working up a designer treatment plan just for you with your doctor. This will be time & effort well spent. Consider it an investment in your mental health. The plan can be modified as your needs change. It is not a set and forget but a living document that you actively refer to when anxiety causes trouble.

I love my plan which is in the 15th edition.
