fear over medication

Hope you are all as well as can be

I just wondering if anyone has a fear of taking medication I’m really struggling with it

Yes. It can be especially scary taking a new medicine. This fear is made worse by all the information about side effects that the pharmacist hands out with the prescription as well as all the side effect information on google. There isn't really a good answer except to talk to the pharmacist or the doctor about concerns or side effects. I have found, though, that virtually all medicines I have ever taken have not caused problems even though I have been quite worried.

I am absolutely petrified of taking new medication

I speak to my mental health nurse about it she’s good and understands we gonna try get my anxiety down g first

Very nice to see you too! I have had some medical problems. These are not life threatening, but really increased my anxiety level. Luckily they are slowly getting under control. Because of that though, I have had to take some new medications, which are also very scary for me, so I understand how you feel. It's good that your mental health nurse understands. That's why I have not been on the site so much. xx

I am afraid of specific drugs. This mostly has to do with negative experiences, the negative reviews I've heard from the people taking them and in the media. But also with finding out after the fact the information regarding side effects and addictivity I wish the prescriber had divulged in the first place. Don't be afraid, but be skeptical and informed :/

it's the fun club nobody really wants to be a part of. "Medicated". Take it easy. It can't always be aweful... right? 🥺

It would definitely depend on what the medication has been prescribed for

I’m on so many drugs it’s a miracle I remember to take them

I have been taking Antidepressants for years and would like to cut back but they are working and I am sleeping quite well and trying not to wash them down with vodka which I was more worried about !

So many people tell the doctor that they are stressed or depressed or not sleeping but then are reluctant to take what he prescribed and it can take weeks for them to kick in They are not an instant fix but they do work
