What should I do when I have a pain in the chest for so long?

Hi, I've been struggling with lots of pain in the chest, I know this is part of anxiety but they stay for too long to the point that it's hard for me to breathe or relax in order to decrease the pain. This happens even when I'm not under stress, or when I eat sugar, even though I reduce the amount of sugar in my diet (sad cause I love sweet things) but I might be doing this wrong.

Sometimes this pain leads to anxiety attacks and some other times not but as I mentioned before, they stay for hours and hours and I'm constantly nervous, scared, reserved, I cry for moments and in a bad mood in general.

Do you have any tips for this particular thing? Does someone else experience the same thing? If somebody knows something about it I would be so grateful to know.

Thanks for reading, take care and stay safe.

Feel free to text me if you want to talk btw!

Hi Ann_ax, have you been told that this pain is from anxiety?

If so, I can reassure you that stress causes tension in our muscles

which in turn can cause chronic pain. The pain you are experiencing

is most likely coming from the chest wall. Another name for it is

Costochondritis. A form of overused muscle strain in addition to

irritated nerve endings between the cartilage in the chest.

If this is what you are experiencing, it is not dangerous but can be

very painful. I have it myself on occasion and use heat to relieve

the pain and soreness.

Since we are not doctors it is always best to give your doctor a call

if this continues to cause you much distress.

Welcome to the forum Ann....nice to have you with us. :) xx

Thank you so much for your help!

I have had this experience so many times! It isn’t fun & Ive noticed it comes a lot when i’m stressed or after a bad panic attack. Usually I try and take a hot bath with epsom salts because that relaxes the sore muscles 🛁 Hope you feel better. If it gets any worse please see a doctor x
