Hi wiserlady, actually the best antidepressant you can find is the one prescribed

by your doctor who knows your health history. Sometimes, by taking a poll of what's

good and what's not, can stop you from finding just the right one for you.

We all react differently to medications which really is a trial and error effort on the doctor's part. Dosage also plays a part on how well you may do on a certain med. Also, the time of

day or evening it is taken can make a big difference. Eventually, by working with your doctor you both will agree on one that gives you the best relief with the least side effects.

My best to you. :) xx

Yes I know all this. Most of what you say is sheer common sense. But that was not the question. I really do get annoyed when I go into a forum and ask a specific question and instead of answering it the person lectures me as if I am a five year old who needs common sense advice.

wiserlady, I'm sorry my response to your post was taken in the wrong context.

I see now after looking back on your posts, that many of them are really geared

towards "people's opinions" on different topics. I didn't realize that at the time

I responded to you.

My purpose on this forum has always been to keep people safe and not influence

anyone by my own choices. I respect each and every one of our virtual family members

by support and caring. Never would I belittle someone or talk down to someone regarding medication.

I realize now that you were looking for a generalized answer and not one applying

to you personally. I hope you have found the answers that you were looking for.

My best to you :) xx

No problem, thank you, have a nice evening. But please remember that many people who go to a doctor about depression and antidepressants are asking for the first time. There is no history for them to look at. Its a new problem. So looking at past history would prove fruitless. Also in the UK you often speak to a doctor you have never spoken to before or who only has time to read a few bits and leaves the rest.

A few years ago, I took a test by Genesight that helped determine which meds were best suited for me genetically. It was covered by my insurance. I think there are a few similar types of tests available now from different companies. I worked with my psych med practitioner and both she and I found it to be very helpful. I ended up taking one of the meds from the test and it has worked very well for me.
