I have done this before. I take my blood pressure and it's like 135/83 I freak out and it get higher and higher. I physically take it about 15 more times until I talk to my self and it goes down. Then I take it again to make sure it's ok and it's high again. I need to stop

Constantly taking my blood pressure again
Hi Chicago22, I agree in that it is so easy to get caught up in taking our b/p
just one more time. We're looking for those perfect numbers which unfortunately
tend to rise the more we take it.
I usually put my b/p machine in the closet to avoid it becoming a habit and not
a necessity. xx
Your bp wouldn't be monitored in the hospital that frequently.
You have to put that thing away. It's just another source of stress you don't need.
I have had the same crutch. I came to realize I was only making my anxiety worse. I still occasionally check it, if I am having chest pain (both of my parents suffered strokes at a young age and my biological grandfather passed suddenly with a massive heart attack, also at a young age.) Most of the time it is normal, occasionally it is slightly elevated, if my anxiety is acting up my heart rate will read high. Nothing that is ever alarming and only reminds me that I, in fact, have anxiety.
I understand the anxiety. I would never take away from someone's anxiety.
I've got my own lol.
You can do better things for yourself with a positive family history.
Eat right, exercise, go for yearly physical exams.
I did the number one best thing I could do...2 weeks from now will be my 1 year anniversary. I quit smoking. It did not help my anxiety much, but I'm confident it's the best thing I have ever done.
I can't wait to see my updated blood work (to be done soon).
Side note: last time all my labs were fine, I have no idea why I have health anxiety
I understand what your going through, my BP is extremely effected by my anxiety. I've been to the cardiologist many times, and despite what we are constantly told 135/85 isn't bad, I have a very difficult time getting a accurate reading, especially at the drs office, but I now take it once a day.
I hope you feel better
I understand...I am in the same position. My BP has been higher over the last year as I have been dealing with anxiety. My BP went UP in the doctor's office the other day and they finally increased my BP Med. But, rightfully so, my boyfriend took my BP machine and hid it somewhere and I have no desire to look for it. (Maybe a little!) I was obsessive with taking it and it would keep climbing and it was just a nasty cycle. Either hide it or ditch it...especially if you are young and healthy!
I’m in exactly the same boat New Year’s Eve I made an emergency appointment with a doctor freaking out and he told me my blood pressure was a little high 153/97 and ever since he said it was high I can’t stop checking my blood pressure 8/9 times a day since
I am trying
Can I ask are you using a wrist monitor? The reason I’m asking is because wrist monitors are not as reliable as the one that’s used in the doctors office They give false readings
Imethe same everyday..my question is ..if there was something serious wrong with us would our vital signs warn us anyway. .1 doctor told me if I was seriously poorly my vitals would let me no..another told me no not necessarily..does anybody really no
I can relate to you, last year I was in anxiety state about my blood pressure to
Dr
.s would throw there arm up at me yelling your going to have a stroke!! Wonder what that did to my pb numbers! I DEVELOPED WHITE COAT SYNDROME AFTER THST, I GET HIGH ANXIETY ABOUT MY READING.I STARTED OBSESSIMG ABOUT MY NUMBERS AND WAS TAKING MY PB 4-5 TIMES A DAY!! THE BEST THING I DID FOR MYSELF WAS TO STOP TAKING MY BP. MAYBE ONCE A WEEK I TAKE IT. IT IS WHAT IT IS AND IM DONE WITH WORRYING ABOUT IT
MY DR. ADMITED TAKING IT TO MUCH WAS CAUSING ANXIETY THAT KEPT MY BP UP.MY ADVICE TO YOU IS YOUR NUMBERS ARE GOOD! KEEP AWAY FROM THE BP CUFF AND YOU WILL BE A LOT BETTER OFF FOR IT.
