Hoping the nightguard will help with the 24/7 head pressure and jaw tightness. Don't think I've been grinding my teeth, but could very well be clinching them from stress and anxiety. Had to take my anxiety med today and just broke down crying. The pressure gets so bad and then the tingling and shocking zaps start up and I feel like it's hard to breathe and I had to just bite the bullet and take Ativan 0.25mg. It just lessens the symptoms but doesn't take them away completely. Even had tingling in my upper spine too. I also have been shaky all day. I will not give up. See a new therapist Monday, hope she's a good fit. Still waiting to have the video eeg. Praying that this night guard gives me some relief.

Head pressure, jaw tightness, picked up the nightguard today
I really hope that nightguard can help you! I’m glad you’re not giving up!! ❤️ I understand what you’re going through because I have all of these symptoms as well
I slept better last night with it, but woke up and the pressure is all coming back. My teeth feel little tight from it and my bite feels little off from it but it did help me sleep better and I guess it released some tension and clenching at night possibly. We shall see what tonight brings with it. I know it won’t fix itself over night if this is to help with the tension in head and jaw. Or pressure in nose and face. Hoping you have a better day today. Sending Hugs your way. It’s hard, but we can get through all of this even on days we feel that we can’t.
You are right! We can get through this ❤️ I hope that it will help. I tend to clench my jaw a lot as well and I never notice how bad it is until I finally realize what I’m doing!
Did you have pressure in the back of your head too with the faintness feeling and like something squeezing around your brainstem or base of your brain?
I have had these feelings, still do. We need to see a dentist. Could be stress related but also probably from clenching or grinding without noticing or being aware of it.
I wore my night guard for the first time last night and then have put it in some throughout the day as well. The pressure is so bad and I’ve got waves in head throughout the day with that uh oh feeling and just tried to sit and breathe through it without taking anything. Dentist said if it doesn’t help within a couple weeks he can send me to a specialist to assess things. I am just searching for any kind of answer that is causing me the chronic debilitating head pressure and I’ve read the tmj and tmd causes a lot of issues. I think this is all just on top of whatever else is going on with me neurological be it anxiety, stress, panic or what I fear most the s word.
I YouTubed some head massages and sat here trying to massage my head and all the different muscles. Listened to some meditation today and literally just stayed on the couch under a heated blanket most of the day trying to relax the best I can. I did fold clothes, but on the couch ha ha ha. I so want this to just go away.
Yep i have the same issues. I honestly dont think there is any cure. Just mouthguard. And maybe ibuprofen to help with pressure.
I’ve tried everything otc and sadly nothing has helped with the pressure. Ibuprofen, aleve, migraine with aspirin Tylenol and caffeine combo, aspirin by itself and magnesium. I just don’t know. Sorry you and I deal with similar physical symptoms. It’s horrible and frightening.
There has to be something that will help us get better some how some way. Acupuncture didn’t work sadly. Therapy so far nope, but seeing a new person on Monday...need that video eeg ASAP waiting to get that done and hopefully catch an episode while on it even though I don’t want to have them but need to for ruling it out at least.
Wishing you to get better too. This has been a year and half almost journey for me.
Iv just had my dentist give me one too, I get the tremours and no one knows why and I must be clenching my jaw without realising as iv developed tmj dysfunction. I can hardly move my jaw some days it's so bad and it gives me these horrible sinus like headaches and my shoulder and arms ache and tingle too. It's horrible isn't it? I didn't think it was anxiety as I don't ever seem to be anxious or worried but I honestly don't no wat else it could be x
Yeah I don’t know what it is either, but it is extremely bad. The faintness waking me up at night and I look at something and just breathe. Then also throughout the day. I just want to lay down all day and not stand up, it’s worse when standing
Well I have pots which is faintness and light-headed and high heart rate when standing. Although I get it when lying down to and it will always wake me through the night. Palpitations and feeling faint is horrible
So sorry you have to deal with Pots. It is horrible for sure. It’s all the time. I drive but I worry when driving and then even sitting in church I am just trying to breathe through it and hope I don’t pass o it or have an episode and breathe through the constant head pressure. I wish I knew what was wrong with me I feel like it so much more and it’s not being found. It’s just hard for me to go from being so fun and carefree and laid back to fearing everything and having these neurological symptoms 24/7...need to have that video eeg to help rule out seizures which is what I am scared it is....focal awareness or partial seizures. I don’t know but I am having issues way more than in the beginning now and the head pressure and faintness all the time it it relentless whatever is going on. Something has to give.
Have a Google of tmj or tmd depending which country ur in. Look at the symptoms cause honestly sounds so much like me and as for faintness mine is caused by anxiety and pots but I'm seeing a neurologist on Thursday to rule out and see if he thinks something else is going on. Hope u gt answers soon x
I did and it does look a lot like the tmj along with anxiety and panic and then similar to focal seizures as well. I do get burning in my skin really bad down my back chest stomach and head. I just have a huge list of symptoms and some definitely fits with the tmj tmd. I have the tightness around my neck real bad too and I do have multi modular goiter but no meds needed as of yet. And I am suppose to have an ultrasound soon of that. Had couple biopsied done on it because one of the cysts. I hope the night guard helps you and myself as well.
Hi
TMJ symptoms can affect your whole body, your eyes, watery, headaches, sinuses, sneezing, running nose, neck, shoulder and upper back pain, your arms, tingling in your hands, hips, legs. Digestion and ibs, tinnitus...
It's just amazing what clenching cause, I also get the tremors in my jaw if it gets so bad for me. I've tried mist things and had a head and neck MRI, all OK.
I think the only answer is working out why we are so stressed. I read a book by Donald R Tanenbaum, called "Doctor why does my face still ache?"
He says we clench because our brains are under siege, meaning we have trauma past or present that is going on in our lives, and we need to sort that out so we can relax... It makes sense.
Get yourself the book and have a read.
Best Wishes
I have been getting horrible tension pressure and at first I was extremely worried but then I realized I’d been clenching my teeth together a lot more than usual, when I get anxious I tend to clench and grind my teeth without noticing
I hope you're feeling better! I have had the exact same symptoms as you, along with migraines and neck pain, and was diagnosed with TMJ disorder caused from extreme stress/anxiety/depression. I also got a custom night guard from the dentist and I started seeing a TMJ specialist but he didn't do much for me.
I started Zoloft at 25mg to help with the anxiety/depression and will be increasing to 50mg and I've noticed this helping a lot. I've also been taking Ativan 0.25mg as needed but now my doctor wants me to ween off of it or only use in emergencies, which sucks cause I'm scared my panic attacks will come back but I also don't want to be addicted to it. I was also prescribed muscle relaxers for night time and sometimes during the day if I need it and has helped me a lot too since I grind and clench my teeth at night.
I just started going to a chiropractor and physical therapist and it has helped me the most out of all. The symptoms have lessened and as long as I'm not too stressed out, I feel pretty good. Months ago I couldn't function and leave the house, and now I'm back to driving and going out more. And I've only been going to the chiropractor and physical therapist for a week and a half, I do two days at physical therapy and two days at the chiropractor. My doctor thought a mixture of both could be really beneficial, and she was right.
I still have days where I feel that pressure that you have right now (like today cause I'm stressed about the holidays, amongst other things) but overall I'm doing a lot better so trust me when I say it does get better! You can private message me if you want to talk about everything because I completely understand what you're going through. Sorry I basically told you my life story haha but I've had literally all the same symptoms as you and it is super scary and when I was going through it, it helped a lot having someone know exactly how I was feeling and offering tips and advice from their personal experience. Sending you lots of hugs and good vibes!
