Anxiety
Definitely currently going through this at the moment. My physical symptoms are driving me insane.
Yes! Mostly because I KNOW my thoughts are not rational and yet I cannot get my mind and body to get with what is the truth! Anxiety is a bugger! I do know when my thyroid is acting up it becomes so much harder to calm myself as my body is spinning due to the thyroid hormone fluctuations. Still scary & frustrating!
Late to the conversation but I agree that it is sooooo frustrating! How are you doing now?
Still on the edge, talking myself down, but mostly coping (or trying) thanks 🙂
So besides the self talk, what other coping techniques do you use/find helpful?
Deep breathing (which is not always helpful), keeping busy, calling someone, and showering. I recently discovered id I have my head fully under the shower to where I can’t hear anything a deep breath it’s really relaxing and helpful!
love all of those and it sounds like you are pretty proficient with putting them to use. And I agree that it is good to have several on hand when a particular one is not being very effective in the moment.
Do you feel like you are getting more proficient at recognizing the triggers in order to divert the anxiety before it becomes too strong?
I think right now what really sets my anxiety off is when my dog is acting “abnormal”. Which, I generally think is everyday.
Yes, all the time. Even if she’s healthy
Sorry for the delay in responding. I was traveling for the holiday.
Have you had a bad experience with a dog dying before? It is definitely hard. I've been through it twice and the Lab I have now is an old girl and definitely slowing down. It's hard to watch them get to the place where their quality of life is not very good and it is awful to have to make a decision about ending their life.
