Every now & then at night when I lay down I feel like I cant breathe but if I get up and get my mind off of it it goes away. Has anyone else ever had this happen? Of course I stupidly Googled my symptoms and it pulled up congestive heart failure so now I've scared myself.

Anxiety?
Hi there you unfortunately did the worst thing you could whilst feeling so low trying to self diagnose on the internet is not the best thing you could do the internet is a great tool but your best making a appointment with your doctor and get a better diagnosis good luck david
Yes in fact I'm having the same symptom (among others) tonight. It's so hard having anxiety. You are not alone in this and apparently neither am I. Web md and Google are not your friends. Just keep posting and reading on this forum and it will help you.
Thank you! I've had this happen one other time and it's awful when I lay down I feel like I cant breathe or I'm smothering up until now my worst symptom was the lightheaded/dizziness I have with my anxiety
Ya dizziness/ lightheaded and feeling like im about to faint all the time are what really gets to me. The best thing you can do is try to distract yourself, I know its easier said than done. If you can, try to sit or lay down for a few minutes. It also helps me to drink water.
I had already talked to my Dr when this happened before and she seemed to think it was only my anxiety also. We had left for vacation on Thursday night and I was up all night and only slept a few hrs and it got my out of whack so not sure if lack of sleep caused my anxiety to act up or what I was fine most of today until I went to lay down and felt that I couldn't breathe
I kinda get this too I've just posted similar
I get this most nites as soon as I try to relax it's like the anxiety takes over and I get the tight chest and short of breath. I get up and start doing things nd I feel okay. So I sometimes avoid the situation of going to bed early some nites.
Me too if I get my mind off it it seems to stop.
I have found that these forums are the best medicine when you are having nights like that. WebMD and Google will have you dialing 911! I now keep busy until I am actually yawning and tired before I go lay down so I can avoid just this...its hard because some nights I should go to bed sooner but...its what works for me...and coming here. Hang in there.
Yes, googling symptoms on the internet is too much information as well as dangerous information. I would also recommend seeing your doctor if you still encounter this issue. But to me, this sounds like anxiety. Once you look up a symptom, it creates more anxiety and can cause shortness of breath and a mimic of all disease symptoms. You mentioned once you got your mind off it, it went away. Please do not google symptoms. Hope this helps.
Yes.....happens to me too....you are not alone. With the dizzyness and lightheadedness I feel like I will faint rather than sleep.
Mine seems to come and go I'll be great for a whike and then it hits and lasts a while then goes away again
