New symptom possible

So last night before bed I started feeling odd, hard to describe but I decided to just go to bed. I’m on medication btw and have been on Paxil for 7 months. I woke up at 4am and immediately had double vision. I could tell I did even in the dark with little light coming in through the windows. I went right to my bathroom and turned the light on and sure enough I was seeing double. That freaked me out and I felt a few more symptoms afterwards. Went right back into my bed and after about 5 maybe 10 minutes it went away and I went to bed shortly after. I tried to calm down. Now I have had eye issues for months now likely related to anxiety is what I’m told and now this! That was my first experience with that ever. Idk if it’s the medication or me or what that brought it on. My whole day has been miserable and I’ve had mild anxiety all day and non stop thoughts about it all. I have the thought now of “what the hell is going on, am I going to die from this” mentality. I’m such a hypochondriac and terrified over this. Please any suggestions. I’m planning on getting off these meds as they havnt been helping me lately anyways. I’ve sort of plateaued and havnt made progress with it.

Hi Blake, it could very well be your medication. There was a time that I was on an

older antidepressant that out of no where while driving on the expressway, I had

double vision. I didn't have anxiety issues then so I just took it for granted that it

was the med. Called the doctor the next day and was taken off of it. And it went away.

By the way, the med I was on was for my Fibromyalgia pain. Let us know what your

doctor says. I care Blake. :) xx

Thank you, I think I’m going to be weening of the medication so it will take a few weeks. I appreciate your reply

Quickly, is it possible to have new symptoms from an antidepressant after being on it for months?

The double vision that I woke up to at 4 am. When I took prozac I woke up with the room spinning. I stopped that med a while ago

I'm a little confused as to the Prozac. Did you wean off it recently?

oops...I meant Paxil.

Blake I really don't get into meds because I'm not a doctor.

I can only go by my own experiences with certain drugs.

It is best you call your prescribing physician whenever there

is a symptom you haven't experienced before while on medication

or weaning off medication. xx

Yeah this symptom is something I have never experienced while off medication. Much like when I was taking Prozac I had weird symptoms that I never had before. I’m weening off this med. he already told me the way to do so and it will take 1 month. Since I’m on 40mg. I’m starting tonight. I messaged him although he did not get back to me. But about a month ago he told me how to taper off if I chose to do so since I asked and said I can get back on the medication if I choose to. I told him I’d like to do therapy (in person) and take no medication for the time being and continue my daily workout routine as well as healthy eating habits.

That sounds like a plan Blake. It is very possible for you to handle this

w/o medication if you so choose. While you are still on it, I would find

other methods to lower your anxiety levels. You Tube is a great resource

to turn to. Just type in what you are worried about and there will usually

be a video about it that will be in a more positive approach. Good Luck

on weaning off your med. Slow and Safe is the way to go. xx
