Scared right now

Anxiety is in full force now. Can barely walk on my foot. It’s so swollen and they’ve given me antibiotics to help make it better. If it spread I need to go a&e. In the last hour I’ve really started feeling like I have the flu and now I’m thinking the worst like infection spreading to major organs etc. Please tell me I’m being silly!!!

So sorry you are feeling like this. It is not spreading to your organs so don’t worry about that. if they gave you antibiotics to take by mouth it can take 72 hours to kick in. Also we would draw a circle around an infection in the ER. And let the patient know if the infection goes outside of the circle, come back in or see your GP. The flu like symptoms could be a result of the antibiotic. However if you get a fever of over 100, call dr or go to ER. I think you will be just fine although I can certainly see why this would make you anxious. And remember when we are in an anxiety state, we can feel naseau, muscle aches ( from epinephrine dumps) headaches ect. So sort of flu like symptoms. I hope you feel better soon. Try to take extra fluids as you say you are not feeling well. If a pharmacist issued you the antibiotic they often will act as a resource too & help answer questions or concerns about medications you are on.
