I have an appointment with cardiologist coming up for POTS , but sometimes i don't feel like its POTS. I randomly , like a flip of a light switch a fast heart rate almost always up to 180 bpm. I don't feel light headed when that happens, only sometimes it makes my chest hurt. This happens without warning or at least i haven't narrowed down any triggers. I'm fed up with feeling awful about this and would like to know if anyone has POTS or IST , what treaments does the doctor usually give? Thank you.

Hi, I'm sorry you are going through this. My daughter has had POTS for 8 years. They are treating her with blood pressure meds, I think its Metoprolol...and sodium pills. Its important to get enough sodium and fluid. She also gets chest pain like you mentioned.
I have pots and my heart rate goes up but not as high as yours. I know that not drinking enough fluids can cause an elevated HR with pots . I am on fludrocortisone , midodrine and take tenormin as needed for elevated HR. I don't feel lightheaded with an elevated HR either. I hope this helps
