I suffer from really bad anxiety, I got a gym pass from the doctors and I’m really anxious about going.
Last time I went to the gym my heart rate was very high like 132 beats per min. I’m obsessed with my heart rate and it’s making me not want to go to the gym. Will I be alright exercising with a high heart rate?

Hi Lauren! I also have exercise induced anxiety and more than a few times came off the elliptical and felt like I couldn’t breath. So definitely start slow and at a comfortable walking pace. 132 is actually a normal to low heartbeat for exercise. A lot of people exercise into the 170s and have no problem. I prefer to stay at 150s and no higher.
I don't think your doctor would offer you a gym pass if he thought it would put your health in danger. Obviously you are going to get anxious there because you're already anxious. Why not use it as a time to try and beat your fear because that's all it is, fear.
