I’m new here and I was looking for some advice. I’m a 20 year old male who is experiencing what I’m calling hell on earth. So roughly a year ago I had my first psvt attack and I thought I was having a heart attack because my heart rate was at 220 bpm. Got to the hospital and they told me I was going to be fine it was just an abnormal heart arrhythmia to follow up with a cardiologist. I see the cardiologist and my heart is fine and perfect accept for the abnormal heart rate. As time went on I grew scared of my next attack and started this anxiety where I stopped working and leaving my room because I was scared to have another attack. So a few month go by and I haven’t left the house I’ve had a few attacks since then and went to the er. Heart check out perfect. Now I have this anxiety not about the pvst but about a heart attack when they don’t run in my family and my heart is perfect. I haven’t been diagnosed with panic disorder but I believe I have it. I get panic attacks everyday all day it seems and I’m dizzy almost all the time. My attacks can be so severe Iget chest pain and raising heart and end up in the er or sometime I get las’s(less attack symptoms) where my anxious feeling is so bad I wanna rip out of my own skin and feel like I’m going insane. I’m in constant fear of heart attack or my next episode of panic. I’m taking buspar 10 mg 3 times a day. My body seems to reject any ssri’s they wanna use. She is recommending Clonazepam. I’m just looking for some insight and advice please help. I’m On he verge of going to the psych ward

Psvt and severe anxiety
My anxiety started with a bout of svt. I've had 5 episodes over the last 3 years. The first 2 I was cardioverted back to normal rhythm with the shock paddles. The other time I was given adenosine to stop my heart and have it reset. It basically feels like you are dying for 10 seconds or so when they give you the meds.
The constant worry everyday about having another episode drove me crazy.
I got on some meds to slow my heart rate and block adrenaline from affecting my heart. That seems to have helped, but I still worried about it. I finally went to a psychiatrist and got something for my anxiety. Ever since the meds started working, I don't worry about it anymore and feel great.
I hope you find something that works for you. Talk to your cardio about meds and if you need it, go see a psychiatrist and get some anti-anxiety meds. Sometimes that's what it takes to get better.
I’m on metoprolol 25 mg at night for my heart and the thing is I’m not afraid of the svt attack anymore I’m scared I’m gonna have a heart attack when I have a perfect heart, my mind is working against itself
That's what I'm on as well. I have the extended release 50mg. It helped my heart, but same as you, my anxiety about having a heart attack even though my heart checked out perfectly healthy was through the roof every day.
Once I saw the psychiatrist, he put me on Sertraline, and ever since it started working my anxiety is about 95% gone. You might look into it.
You should take the clozapam. That will calm you down so you can see that your panic attacks are not dangerous to your physical health. They do not cause heart attacks. Try to understand that. I was in the same boat when I was your age and I recovered using lorazepam plus treatment by a psychiatrist. Now you just need to calm down knowing that your disorder is very treatable. Hang in there. I'm with you! Howard
Thank you Howard I am trying my hardest to understand that my heart is in perfect health I’ve been checked out in every way. I have really bad gerd symptoms that also play a roll in those thoughts, I’m trying to get into all the doctors I can to get myself back to normal because I have a 8 month old and this basically disables me from taking care of him and enjoying life itself
The fact that you have an 8 month old baby changes the way you should be looking at your situation. I don't know if you have a significant other living with you who is sharing the job of looking after your baby. In either event it is up to you to make that child your first priority. He or she is totally dependent on you to stay alive and be properly nurtured. Therefore to the extent possible you should move your thinking to that child and think less about yourself. You have been checked out by good doctors who reassure you that your heart is fine so FORGET about that. Focus your attention and love on that child and you will be the father and person that you know that you can be. By the way gerd can be caused by your anxiety and can probably be relieved by a low dose anti-anxiety medicine such as lorazepam. Once again hang in there. I hope this helps. Howard
Thank you Howard, I am trying to move my minds focus off the anxiety and my gerd pains and tryna bc to focus in life itself and what I need to take care of in my life which your right is my son and my only focus should be bettering my life to make sure he has a great life as well. I appreciate your words of advice
