New here, been feeling anxious lately and mind has increasingly felt weird. Can anyone else relate?

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I had been suffering from mild depression for the past 2 1/2 months and from generalized anxiety disorder for the past 3-4 weeks. A lot of my anxiety has been stemming from my fear of becoming psychotic/developing a psychotic illness after learning about it in my abnormal psych course. I know that this isn't possible from anxiety, but lately it just feels like my thoughts have become jumbled or like I need to think carefully about what I'm going to say next, which makes me worry. When I say jumbled thoughts, it includes thinking many things that aren't related, but also stringing words together that don't have coherence. For example, I'll think of how the day is and find myself using incorrect words like "It's such a blue-tiful day" or something along those lines. I also begin to worry about my mind going blank, which causes my mind to go blank whenever I'm speaking to people. I recognize that my mind is going blank because I'm thinking about it a lot and anxiety can cause concentration problems, but it still causes me to become distressed. My therapist told me it was just because of the anxiety, but I can't find much online about it. Does anyone else experience the jumbled thoughts/mind going blank, could offer some words of encouragement, or thinks that I should get my brain tested (lol)? Thanks so much.

Well you pretty much describe me with the jumbled thoughts. I have them more often when I'm thinking about the thoughts being jumbled LOL. Your example is pretty spot on "blue-tiful" ... Same here. For me I think it's because I'm always thinking about my anxiety problems that I'm not focused or as sharp as I used to be because of anxiety. It's bothersome for sure. I know it's pretty common but it's still hard to accept. I'm working on trying to be more mindful. A lot of us anxious types have this issue. I don't wish it on anybody but at the same time, it's nice to know you're not alone.

This makes me feel so relieved! I also find that it worsens when I think about them being jumbled lol. Thanks for your reply, I'm so glad that I'm not alone.
