Lightheadedness and Hypnic Jerks

Hello, I have been having hypnic jerks for about 5 weeks now almost every night, preventing me from sleeping. Its not just once, its pretty much every time I drift off to sleep. It is torture. I take melatonin 3 mg, xanax .5 mg, and requip 1 mg every night. This has helped me sleep the past week but last night the jerks happened again. Feeling very scared and frustrated. I have also felt a persistent lightheaded feeling every day for the past 5 weeks (not vertigo but kind of like like my head feels like a balloon). Has anyone else had these symtpoms from stress/anxiety? Any other treatment options? Thanks in advance.

I've not had the hypic jerks with the regularity you're describing but I've had them, yes. The lightheaded thing is my frequent companion and I dislike it a lot. I'm learning to try to just keep doing what I'm doing and ignore it as much as possible - but sometimes, like yesterday, it's not possible to ignore. Apparently these things will decrease as we heal.
