Me

Hi,

I have anxiety, I'm on Citalopram. My anxiety fluctuates. I get anxious if I have to go to Doctors, or any Other Important Visit. I received a letter today, from my surgery to book an appointment with Nurse to take my Blood Pressure. This sent me into a spin, because the last time I went to the nurse a few years ago, my B/P was up, she put on the CG Test, ''I think its called,'' Wired from my chest to my ankles, that showed was clear ok. but she had me put on B/P Tablets Amlodipine . To be quite Honest, her what I deemed overreaction made me feel really horrible at the time. Moreover since that B/P Test I have avoided all requests since, to have a B/P Test. So I think I will overlook this request too. My reasons for not going for a nurse B/P Test, Is I feel Ok, not Perfect, but Ok. I would love you lovely Peoples Opinion on What I have had to say in this Message.

Love Robbyp

hi I think if you don't go you will give yourself more worry.going will reassure you that everything surely is ok.it will put your mind at rest I hope.

Hi

Have you thought about monitoring your BP at home ? You have to be careful what you buy. I bought a wrist cuff because the arm cuff hurts me - but guess what? They're not accurate. You need one that says " CLINICALLY VALUDATED " on the box. We have an OMRON but there's another name and they are very reasonably priced. Will look it up and edit reply. Think it's AD or something like that.

If you got really stressed in the appoinment then this may have affected your BP reading. You could take it regularly at home once or twice a day (same times each day) for a week or 2 and show your records to your doctor of nurse. This will give a more accurate picture.

Did you start the Amlodipine? If not then you may as well buy the monitor first. If you are on the Amlodipine, are you taking it at the same time every day? If you monitor your BP that will give an indication whether or not you are on correct dose.

Your Levothyroxine must be taken on it's own & with water only. No food or drink for an hour. And no other meds at the same time. Some an hour away, some 2 hours and some - eg Vitamin D - 4 hours away.

You could put a post on the Thyroid forum asking how long you need to wait after Levothyroxine before taking Amlodipine. Amlodipine is OK to take with or without food and any time of day - but you must take it at the same time everyday. So it's easy to take, once you get into a routine.

Also ask how long you need to wait between Levothyroxine and Citalopram.

Also declare any other meds and supplements you are on.

Never take Multivitamins or multiminerals.

There are very skilled people on Thyroid forum, many who have suffered late diagnosis of Hypothyroidism. And, since every cell in the body needs adequate Thyroxine in order to function, being left with an Underactive Thyroid can cause many health problems. So you need your make sure you are on enough Levothyroxine. You also need to get FreeT3 tested to see if you are a poor converter and need a little T3 as well. Are you under an Endocrinologist? Ask for Free T3, Free T4, TT4, TSH and TPO & TgAb (Antibodies ).

I have a problem with getting my blood pressure done at my doctor surgery,it goes sky high because I,m so nervous,I have a home blood pressure monitor which I use every day and my blood pressure is fine. Don,t these doctors know what is called white coat syndrome where people like us who are a bag of nerves makes our blood pressure shoot up. Get a basic blood pressure monitor from Amazon about £20, you will find when you are relaxed at home it will be ok.

hi there, blood pressure is quite a routine check and isnt anything to be worried about. Manual sphygmomanometers give the most accurate readings provided you know how to use them, there are plenty of yt videos that you can learn from. have faith in healthcare professionals! its important to find a nurse or doctor that you trust and get on well with. best of luck xo
