I need help :( I have suffered with depression and anxiety for about 8 years or so, and over the last 5 months iv found the only thing that balances me and makes me feel slightly normal is taking co codamol usually 6 tablets in 1 go on a night, it relaxes me and I feel fine, then i wake up and feel rotten, sluggish, really spaced out like im a state of constant anxiety, what didn't help was around oct last year I stopped taking my anti D meds. has anyone every suffered from the same? I mean even if I go like 2-3 hours without taking some I start to feel shaky, anxious like something bad is going to happen, really spaced out and not with it.

Cocodamol is addictive do you take it for pain or for a high

neither really, it just balances me out and settles my anxious panicky feelings, I started taking it for pain originally,

I know what you mean they just numb your brain like all opioids and level you out but the downside is addiction, feeling sluggish, slow digestion and the knock on effect .if you can wean off them slowly

Yeah as soon as they wear off especially this last week or so, my head feels fuzzy, anxiety levels go through the roof, feelings of dread and dizziness, until I take it again,

Just take 5 1/2 for a couple of days then 5 ....4 1/2 .......4 and stay on the 2 awhile see how you go they are only low level opioids not that hard to come off but each tablet has 500mg paracetamol aswell and x 6 at once is not good on your kidneys maybe see your doctor to reassess your meds ie get on something for anxiety

Thanks Alan, appreciate you taking the time to talk to me. I am going to ween off them and either start taking my beta blockers again for the anxiety or speak to the doctor again about new meds.

thanks

Hi Alan - any in excess of 2 is a serious Paracetamol overdose. No more than 1g (2 x 500mg ) Paracetamol should be taken in any 4 hours period. (should be taken 4 to 6 hourly intervals). And no more than 8 x 500mg tablets of Paracetamol should be taken in any 24 hours period.

If the Cocodamol are any higher than 8/500 ( which is 8mg codeine and 500mg paracetamol) then 6 tablets would also be an overdose of codeine.

The poster needs to go to hospital.

Hi Mary ,the poster said he’s been taking 6 for a while that’s why I replied and hopefully he will get his meds reassessed by a professional

He needs to be seen in A&E.

Hope he goes there immediately.

yes...that’s why I was alarmed

Hi lostguy.

Is that a misprint /typo about how many cocodamol you take in one go? Because taking 6 cocodamol at once would be a serious paracetamol overdose. This would seriously damage the liver and be life threatening .

If anyone takes more than 2 x cocodamol within a 4 hour period then they should go to A&E or ER.

I think the help you need right now is to stop taking anything with Paracetamol in it and seek medical help. You need blood tests and to find out what can be done for you medically.

So please go to A&E or the ER or a Walk-In Clinic if there is one near you.

Good that you start your post with I need help. The depth and quality of help you need can be found with a doctor, consultant or at your local clinic or hospital. Our community is great but not enough for what you need.

I suggest you go back on your antidepressants and then gradually wean yourself off co-codamol which will be easier if you are in medication. Taking them was an indication that you obviously needed some help which your doctor should give you.

Lets not argue please ok. I understand were people are coming from. Iv slowly started taking a normal dose 2 in 4 hours 4 x a day then il go to 6 then 4 then hopefully none. Got the doctors tomorrow afternoon after work.
