I was in the shower and all of a sudden felt anxious and ran out the shower and my wife was like are u ok? I told her to call 911 because my mind was telling me that there was pressure on my chest when it really wasn’t. I fear heart attack or what I think a heart would feel like. I FEEL BETTER NOW IM LISTENING TO OCEAN SOUNDS ON YOUTUBE, I haven’t had one of those in awhile and it caught me off guard.

How do you guys deal with anxiety randomly?

I’m sorry and it could be dehydration on my end because I been rippin and running in school business, kids and wife and maybe it’s starting to take a toll on me mentally, I need a vacation

This is only panic attack,my first panic attack started in the shower suddenly I felt dizziness and heard my heart beats in my ears,I thought its due to blood pressure or heart attack, after that this fear creates anxiety disorder

The random attacks are the worst. What I do personally when one strikes...I try identifying that it is panic as soon as I am able. As you know sometimes it really does sweep you off your feet. Once I have confirmed to myself that this is old news, you’ve felt this before; I become non reactive. Now...let’s say it was a swept me off my feet and there was no indentification. Afterwards I do some calming techniques that work for me. Then...I ignore the attack. I won’t let myself spend a lot of time ruminating over it. I know if I do it takes me down a long tense scary road. I sympathize with the shower though. That was a big trigger of mine for a long time. Actually my first post ever on here was about overcoming my shower anxiety. Sometimes I still feel it trying to come back. If that starts happening I talk to myself. Lol. A nice “lecture” for myself. Lol

Sad but true, when I felt panic come on, I would grab my bag of crap I bring with me everywhere with my meds and drove to a local urgent care/ER clinic and sit outside in their parking lot while I listened to a guided mindfulness/meditation session. I always calmed down about 15-20 minutes, drove home, and felt like an idiot. At the same time, it helped me feel better knowing, worst case, I was within a mere few steps of help.

That's terrifying what you went through but I think it's not uncommon for a lot of us. Sometimes when I'm in a compromising situation (nude from a shower...on the toilet -lol-...or not properly dressed/sloppy), I feel more apt to suddenly realize how I'm in not in a good situation to deal with a panic/anxiety attack.

Lol, this is probably the most candid I've been on my particular situation and I laughed quite a bit rereading it.

Well you certainly tickled me a bit. Lol. I can see how we would have to tell our anxiety or panic attacks to stay back because it's not the right time to be doing this.

I have done the same. Grabbed my things, camped out in front of the er or the urgent care so just in case it got worse I was a few steps from help. Felt really silly once I got back home. One time in particular I just went and sat in the er. Never checked in. Just hung out in there. Like I was visiting or waiting for someone else. Lol.

But thanks for the laugh. Wish us the best.

🤣 for real. I laugh about it now. But at the drop of a dime I'd do it again just to feel safe. Better safe than sorry.
