I'm feeling down quite a bit lately

I recently became a Vegan and this was to try and help my IBS. I am having some issues but they aren't severe. I also have Emetophobia which is a fear of being sick and also being round people that have had tummy bugs/Norovirus. I've had this condition for a very long time and am having CBT at present but am still struggling with this condition.

I have mentioned my diet as I'm not sure if I could possibly be deficient in something as I've been feeling quite down for the past few weeks and can't seem to get out of it. I freely admit I hate the Winter months, I detest the short days and no longer enjoy Christmas so am always glad when it's over but I've never been as bad as I have been this year. Does anyone know of anyone else or maybe you've had a similar experience that has changed their diet and is actually feeling worse mentally?

Also, regarding the Emetophobia, I can quite often panic when there is someone that's had or has a bug, I cannot settle. I just want to try and enjoy life but don't feel I can at the moment. Even if there is someone that I've not been near i.e. they live a very long way from me, if they've been poorly I start to worry. I will open up to my CBT Therapist when I see her but I'm not seeing her for around 3 weeks.

Is there someone that understands nutrition and can see if my diet may be contributing to how I am feeling as I don't understand why I'm feeling like this, particularly as I was fine before I changed my diet.

Thank you very much for reading this post.

Consider taking an amino acid supplement. Only animal foods have a complete amino acid profile. Amino acids are critical for many reasons, one of which is serotonin production. You also need to take a b12 or b complex vitamin. Lastly, take a look at tour protien intake. You may need to supplement, but don't need much unless you are an athlete. So long as you are getting .75 grams per pound of body weight that is sufficient if you are not an athlete.....also, vegan protiens are not complete protiens, and the amino acid supplement you take makes them complete. Lastly, Google health anxiety and that may help you to realize you are fine and worrying about health is only anxiety. Be well

Hi ChicagoGirl1961 , thank you so much for your reply. I did wonder if I was taking enough. I am taking Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D but didn't know about amino acids, I'm going to look for those. I've sent myself a link to calculate my protein intake. I'm not an athlete but I do enjoy outdoor exercise i.e. cycling and walking.

I also appreciate your very kind words, thank you.

Hope you are feeling better.

Thank you Laxmik, unfortunately I'm not good and I now think my tummy issues are down to a bad bout of food poisoning. I ate a shop bought veggie pot on 22 November and have been suffering since with nausea and diarrhoea, my hubby took a sample to the docs for me today and I'll find out if that's what it is on Tuesday.
