So aggravated...

I’ve been on many SSRIs.. I went a couple months without anything because nothing seems to help and I’m just done with the side effects.. just recently I wanted to try meds again.. I tried Viibryd and when I got to day 3 I was in hell. Head and body felt so weird.. my panic attacks were worse and I didn’t even know they could get worse. So I stopped it immediately! Now I’m back to square one. Just try to deal with this on my own and with a therapist? I also have depression and OCD.. I’m going to see my GP today and see what she thinks but I’m just at the point where I’m numb and don’t care anymore. I’ll just deal with the way I feel and just push through each day, which isn’t a fun way to live!

Hi

Not caring how you feel but ploughing on through the day is the basic necessity to overcoming anxiety and depression. I know exactly how you are feeling but if you can learn to accept the thoughts and feelings and develop a "So What!?" attitude, letting your mind and body fall into any state with zero resistance, you will recover. Recovery is about being ok about not feeling ok and making your life bigger than anxiety.

You dont have to like the symptoms but if you understand that your current state of mind and body is harmless and completely natural under present circumstances (stressed about being stressed which depletes your emotional reserves) it takes away some of the fear of the symptoms which is the root cause. When fear is removed, you are paving the way fof your mind and body to begin the natural healing process and see the return of emotions which are mo longer exaggerated by your anxiety. In other words, peace of mind and body will gradually return.

The books published by Dr Claire Weekes explain all you need to know about anxiety and related symptoms such as OCD and depression and how to recover, by practising acceptance. If you follow her teachings, you will get your life back.

Thank you all for your replies! I really appreciate them. I feel like no one I am seeing right now is trying to help me.. so I’m in the process of finding another psychiatrist. I just got home from my youngest daughters speech therapy and during the visit I had a horrible panic attack. The side of my head went numb so I started freaking out, my heart started pounding but I kept reassuring myself I was fine. On the way home my vision was still blurry and I still don’t feel 100% right now but I’m trying...

Hello Disney, one thing about the meds is that SSRI's are not typically fast acting meds. They can take a week or two before they have any effect. There are fast acting meds typically prescribed for anxiety like xanax and klonopin but they are benzos and have more side affects and withdrawal issues. Try to be gentle with yourself and understand that it will take some time for a drug to take effect and don't add to your anxiety about it.
