Sober vs alcohol
Not sure what your question is, but I've taken Xanax for years .. on and off. It works well for me with no side effects. I took Prozac many years ago and it never bothered me either. I don't know if you can take them together. The Xanax is more helpful for panic attacks... calms you down. The Prozac is more long term. Hope you feel better soon.
Do u still take medication? Someone told me I shouldn’t listen to my doctor and I shouldn’t take the medication am struggling right now and don’t know what to do I feel so lost
Darling I don't know what you are taking the meds for... don't know anything about your health issues. I have MS and several other autoimmune diseases. I take the Xanax when I feel the anxiety getting out of control or a panic attack coming on. It works very well for me. I try to keep meds to a minimum. I know that you have to take the Prozac for many weeks before it really kicks in and creates a difference in your mood. This is something you really should consult your doctor about.
Hang tight, give the medicine the 6 weeks it needs! What dose are you taking? If in six weeks your still feeling like this they might need to up the dose. It will work!
Am on 20 mg of Prozac and Xanax 1mg 3 x a day
I was in 20mg for the longest and after I had my last child, 20mg no longer worked for me. I was having pannick attacks which I had not had on 20mg before, so they upped me to 40mg and it worked for me. I had stopped taking meds during pregnancy though and the doc had told me sometimes when you go back to it the regular dosage doesn’t work but I honestly think it was the added stress from the much more added responsibility that was on my shoulders. Hopefully yours kicks in ASAP and you start to feel relief. 🤞🏻
So i have taken prozac and it takes a few weeks to kick in and get full effects but i wouldnt give up on it. Xanax ia great for calming. I have ocd and my mind is always racing and it helps me to relax. Also get yourself to do something go on a walk, or something that would distract you from alcohol. Id reccomend the pacifica app too. Theres communities u can talk with and help give advice and just listen. It can also give u tools to help keep ur mind in the now instead of thinking of alcohol or the negative. Stick with your sobriety, you're doing great even if it doesn't feel like it, and it feels like a challenge. You got this. You are so strong!
Are u still on Prozac? And how many weeks? I been on mines for 2 weeks. And how many mg is your Xanax and how many times a day do u have to take that and I had Pacifica since 2016 I have some many apps and am not thinking about drinking am trying to get better and haven't been out my house in 2 days am very depressed with no energy my anxiety is to bad to be leaving my safe place I have agoraphobia so it makes it hard for me to enjoy life
Oh so i was on 30 mg prozac. It helped me after about 8 weeks i felt most effects. However i am now on luvox for my ocd. Prozac helped a lot, like i didnt have any ocd for years after. But i had some stressful events and needed to get back on something. Im now pn luvox 50mg. Prozac youll feel effects anywhere from now and itll be stronger at 4 weeks.
Xanax is .25mg. I take 1/day maybe 2 depending on severity of stress. I take xanax when im really stressed like having an anxiety attack. The Dare app helps with anxiety and worry too if u need it. Yya agoraphobia is very common. I wasnt able to leave my bed for a month before i got on prozac. And xanax deffinitwly helped me. It affects people diffetntly. If ur afraid of taking xanax. 25 mg is lowest dose, break it in half and try that wait an hour see how u feel.
Hi Tamka,
Sounds like you have some very hard days. So sorry. While I am not a doctor and can't tell you what you should or should not do, I encourage you to keep seeking out help from professionals who can guide you. Medication does take time to work and it is important to also have therapeutic support. It sounds like you are doing good things for yourself and really trying to move yourself to a better place. You will get there. Don't hesitate to reach out to your doctor when you are struggling. There are support groups and it may help you to be in a group setting with others who understand what you are going through. If you are a person of faith, reach out to your local church. Be gentle with yourself and know you are special and important so keep doing whatever it takes to heal. I wish you the best.
