hi,im a newbie, suffer from chronic anxiety, been experiencing some weird thoughts since my new gp started to wean me off diazepam 5mg now 2mg

This is a great question to talk to your GP about. He reduced your dosage so he must have a good idea about how and what challenges you might go through.
are you kidding ,GP is only concerned in breaking the habit of around 30yrs,he is not concerned overly about my reactions to using Citralopam, which he prescribed but I haven't tried due to the 5 pages of bad side-effects-------
Is there a particular reason why your GP has started to wean you off now after 30 years of use? Does he think you don’t need them anymore or is it your choice to wean?? In answer to your question yes my anxiety is always around my health and I get negative, intrusive thoughts a lot. I take Prozac daily and Xanax when needed.
All I can advise is to hang in there while you wean off the meds or if you feel you really can’t right now, explain that to your GP, he/she is the only one that can help you in that regard.
Best of luck xx
yes,it was a different surgery ,I had been getting 5mg 1 daily on repeat prescription on a 2month basis, but this gp had stopped others and he realised that I was somewhat losing it,,,,which had begun prior to the changeover;and would have probably given me any type of anti-depressant than the usual prescribed diazepam---it was foolish and done in such a way that I could have been a robot for all he cared;however I have another batch of diazepam 2mg,thankfully,the other gp I spoke to over the phone Thursday past(other gp had gone on holiday),yes ,I hadn't realised how bad anxiety can get and you fluctuate fromfeeling ok to dreadful , I haven't had this negativity so bad and certainly sympathise with yourself and others who are victims;strangely enough im able to sleep ,how do you manage?thamks for your reply.
Nightmares started yet? You must reduce dose very slowly with Valium. You need an addiction doctor, not a gp. Most gps know little about addiction. Had one try to get my mother off Valium 5 mg (once at bedtime) at age 91...said she may be addicted. Ya think??? Yup, I said 91. She got a new doc.
never get nightmares ,though anxiety is under control to an extent,i still take 2 2mg diazepam daily that's whats prescribed ,though I I certainly not happy how this new gp started to wean me his attitude was very dismissive and as with your mother claimed he was trying to help (laughable).I get stressed out much easier than before and im trying to keep anxiety ilevel down.!hope your mothers ok considering her age -im 20 yrs younger
