Still battling mental health with son with emetaphobia?

Can anyone give me some positive outcomes from their experience with a child with severe emetaphobia. My son is 15 and has no life now at all, no school attendance and stays in his room all the time. He wants me 24/7 and I am drained beyond words. Does anyone have any positive outcomes that I can cling onto??

I am hoping he is under the care of a psychiatrist and a therapist. Can he gradually find a way to wean himself from this fear? For example, by going to the mailbox every day, or going for a short walk. It seems to me that he needs serious intervention, as this is no way for him or you to live.

I think that b1b1b1 is 100% correct. You may want to get a psychiatrist involved because a 15 yo is a bit young to be paralyzed by fear about puking.

On the upside there are good therapies for phobia's.

EFT and EMDR therapy work very often on this dis-order.

YOU MUST get therapy for yourself.

IF you can get yourself squared away, your son will not only choose help for himself, he will get better.

Tough love is important for this one.
