I have had Anxiety focused around Death and Dying, I have has it a long time. I am here because my grown son suffers from Health Anxiety, he fears that every bump, lump or anything unusual is Cancer or some other disease. If anyone else suffers from this, is there any books, video's he could use to help with this, he is contemplating seeing a psychologist, but has not as of today. Any an all help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have had it for sometime can you not offer any advice to him ?. Health and anxiety is health anxiety regardless.

I do help him as much as I can, I am just looking for additional information. I have managed mine to the point of very few flare ups but, what works for me may not work for him, so just wanting some additional info that might help as well.

Hypochondriac is a better term for health anxiety.. i have suffered this quite sometime as well we must distract ourselves and not look for anything everyday than we suffer from EVERY TINGLING every sensation we feel or thjnk we feel.. keep busy and dont stress over getting sick if you eat healthy excersize daily you will be okay with keeping busy and thus your mind wont run off like crazy

Try taking powdered magnesium many people are low in this mineral, when low it can affect your mental state. I also heard that vitamin D can help but I have found that magnesium is the best for this kind of problem you can get this at your local health food store. There have been studies done on this. Look up the affects of low magnesium or magnesium deficiency. This can cause depression plus much more....

Thank you very much, yes I have been doing some research on supplements and anxiety. Zinc, B-Vitamins, Folic Acid, Calcium and Magnesium all play a part from what I have read.

Perhaps best to ask your gp for blood tests on B12, Vitamin D, Folate and Ferritin. Once the results are back, get a copy of them ~ don't just accept that anything that's 'within range' is fine, as you'll be told by (probably!) your Doctor's Receptionist!

Some of the 'ranges' today, are far too low to offer you good physical and mental health.

Save yourself a small fortune of indiscriminately buying 'health supplements' which you don't need, in doses which are less than useless ~ and concentrate on those which you do perhaps need.

If your blood test results are 'outwith ranges', (showing as low) then your gp should be able to help you with injections, or prescriptions for supplements.

*IF* in any doubt, post your Blood Test Results on here, with the 'ranges' (the numbers to the side of your result, usually withing brackets, and the 'measurements' which are normally letters followed by "/L") and no doubt someone will be along to advise you on the 'dosing' you require to be taking, to get yourself into a 'healthier' state than you currently feel.

Yess me too my anxiety was focused on that..also i feel like i have a health anxiety. You know that its hard to have an anxiety. You can watch videos from youtube how to overcome anxiety,or watch some motivational videos. I hope it works.. You and your son can go outside , do some activities so that you wont focus on what you are thinking.😊

I suffer from GAD with hypochondria as the worst form of it. I found this YouTube channel Anxietyguy. It’s by a guy names Dennis Simsek. He used to suffer from it too but now completely recovered. Do check it out. It helped me loads! Good luck.
