Please don’t go Jeff

AnnieKing profile image
48 Replies

I’ve just seen half a post from Jeff1943 saying he is leaving this forum. I am unable to view this post in full but plead with him not to leave. Jeff has kept me going this last year , his posts always calm and inspire me and his envagelism for Claire Weeks has surely helped so many of us towards a cure. I beg you to stay Jeff and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I’m guessing who this is, Jeff has constantly supported this person, patiently repeated his feelings and advice and encouragement. ........and rarely thanked.

My patience has worn thin at times but like Jeff have empathy and so have not challenged.

Hi Annie think I know who this person is also. The individual I’m thinking of never agrees just hedges with the same song day after day. If Jeff goes I’m seriously thinking of signing off too. I wonder what Claire Weekes would think rest her soul

Hi guys. Jeff has deleted the post. So maybe he is staying after all. His profile is still here. If he left wouldn’t it be deleted ?

Jeff has helped me too so much with his knowledge. With him and another person suggested the Dr Clair Weeks book to me and I’m slowing in the road to recovery. I can’t thank this man enough. He is truly a lovely person.

Yes! If it wasn’t for Jeff and Beevee I would still be in the mess I was in for 22 years. I’m finally seeing the light through the book and both the gentleman’s help and knowledge. All 3 have been a tremendous help to me and my recovery! X

Oh. Beevee I hope he is ok. Such sad news. You and Jeff are truly amazing with your knowledge and help to others. Myself included. You both have helped me and I took your advice on board. No one should feel bad about helping. I’ don’t know what happened so maybe I shouldn’t comment to much. He will be missed if he has left.

It’s just sad.

Legends!! 🙏🏻⭐️

I don’t think anyone has a clue Joe but if Jeff was asked to stop posting by who knows, they asked the wrong person to back off.

Once again, Jeff left of his own accord. He was niether removed, asked to leave, or anything else. He may have just needed a break and found an opportunity to do so. I feel confident he’ll return.

It's unfortunate that Jeff decided to leave. I think we all need to be supportive and respectful of each other. We all should try to listen, learn and feel grateful when offered both help and suggestions. Everyone in our community deserves a safe, respectful and non-judgemental forum for posts and replies. Everyone here is valued, without regard to the extent of their participation. Indeed, most of our communty members never post but find life enhancing help and support from reading. Jeff made a choice which he may change in the future. For now, we all have each other and we will endevour to keep our community helpful for all of us.

Well lets hope he comes back because he was a lifeline for all of us.very passionate and wise and helped many people.

Jeff was here for one thing. To help.

Not discriminating anyone. This site is for Anxiety- nothing more.

Beevee profile image

Darryl, I fail to understand how Jeff’s posts were anything but helpful, respectful and supportive. Please elaborate.

Darryl profile image
DarrylPartner in reply toBeevee

Please don't misunderstand my post. Neither I nor anyone here "kicked" Jeff off, or suggested that he leave or anything like that....indeed, quite the opposite. Apparently he was going overboard in some of his responses to others. I've tried to work with him - since last month - to try to work things out for all concerned. Ultimately, rather than working through the community issue (which, obviously, is a private matter) he chose to go on his own accord. I wanted him to stay, but, that was not my decision to make.

Indigojoe profile image
Indigojoe in reply toDarryl

Darryl thank you for joining this thread and sharing your position with us.

I would like to suggest, that whomever felt that Jeff was going overboard with, might not have been a touchstone in this forum like Jeff was for so many of us.

Since the decision has been made, it is bad form to beg, plead or throw a snot dripping tantrum, however with that said, perhaps the value of the person who reported that he was " going overboard" might have their own issues. The weak link hold the chain.

We do not know any details.

The posters "here" have felt that his contribution to all of us have allowed so many of us to start to heal.

That may be of more value than 1 or 2 possible " complainers"

I am sure with your wisdom and experience with many, you knew that!

It's just a dam shame.

In the words of Dr Weeks, Might I suggest that we

ACCEPT ACCEPT ACCEPT, utter acceptance...............In Jeff's honor

Totally agree Beevee, Jeff was exemplary in this respect.

Darryl. I’m with Beevee here. I don’t understand it. So many of us are feeling the same. Jeff was great. Many do need to take his advice on board. He knows the way forward. If you choose not to listen then don’t keep posting and asking why what when and how so many times.

Thanks for the reply. Have you seen how many of us has truly respected Jeff in his knowledge to recover from Anxiety? If he was in anyway “overboard” as you mention. I doubt he would have the love everyone is showing now.

He was a clam and kept quite a few of us going when in a desperate need of help.

The man was an inspiration to a lot of us and gave us hope. Now he is gone

We shall hold out hope that he will return and that helpful interactions with everyone will be fostered. It's only been a few hours....let's see what happens in a few days or week or two.

I do hope so. Jeff was a lifeline to most people on here Darryl, himself and another gentleman on this site took their time to reply to a lot of people in distress and despair and help them through!

I think a lot of people will suffer without him.

Beevee profile image
Beevee in reply toDarryl

Darryl. I still don’t understand how Jeff’s posts are deemed to have gone overboard. Many of my posts are similar to Jeffs. Why have I not been pulled over? It doesn’t make sense to me and disappointed that you have felt the need to question his posts.

We both advocate acceptance as the cornerstone to recovering from anxiety because it works. It doesn’t provide instant recovery and those who don’t understand what is happening to them will not immediately grasp the concept of acceptance when their minds and bodies are filled with tension and fear. They cannot see the wood for the trees. It takes time to learn how to accept and all our posts explain this, in detail so that they can start on the recovery process. Occasionally, some sufferers require tough love to help them see the wood between the trees. If you know about anxiety, you will know that it thrives on avoidance. If an agoraphobic person asked me what they should do to rid themselves of anxiety, I would tell them to walk out their front door and take their anxiety with them and to keep doing it until their fears disappeared. Now, you can dress that up any way you like but from time to time, the message has to be spelt out. We are not doing this to upset people, we are doing this because we know it is the only way to be free of inappropriate levels of anxiety. We need to be encouraging people like Jeff to pass on their experiences and not chastising them because the tone of their message wasn’t right. By nature, anxiety sufferers are all sensitive souls so even the most helpful messages could be wrongly construed. I’ve got that t-shirt but by continually exposing myself to those situations, I built up resilience which is what recovery from anxiety is all about.

Beevee profile image

I can only surmise that Jeff was unhappy with the way he has been treated. Otherwise, why would he choose to leave? You say yourself that he went overboard.I’ve never seen any evidence of this and judging by many of the comments on this thread, there are plenty of people who would agree. If he did decide to return, I would not expect the tone or content of his posts to be challenged because he knows what it takes to recover from anxiety. He’s worth his weight in gold.
