Hi Bostonj, I see from your previous posts you've had health anxiety for 3 years and indeed were mentioning the same symptoms (dizziness and neck pain) way back then too.

So what you mention in your latest post is a continuation of these symptoms of anxiety: the neck pain is most likely muscular tension and we all feel dizzy and shakey when we have high anxiety.

There's absolutely no reason to think you are going to pass out and not wake up, put that out of your mind entirely, anxiety does not have the power to do that.

You've had these bad feelings for quite a long time now, maybe due to stress in your life. Have you ever come across Claire Weekes' method for recovering fron anxiety disorder? If not I think you would benefit greatly from reading her first book titled "Self help for your nerves" in the U.K. and also titled "Hope and help for your nerves" in the U.S. Both available from Amazon new or used.

Her 'acceptance' method has helped so many to recover over the years: you will soon recognise yourself in its pages.

Hi Bostonj, I remember talking with you a couple years ago with the same symptoms. I remember because I too use to go through that same fear everyday.

Did you ever have an MRI or CT scan done on your neck? Besides it possibly being chronic muscle tightness and spasms, it can also be disc problems. Either one of those issues can cause neck pain, dizziness and pressure feeling. Always best to see your doctor or a Neurologist to eliminate any second guessing. I believe it's severe anxiety disorder as I had. The shaking and feeling off is a good sign that is what is causing your symptoms. When the ground in your office shakes from the A/C, it just feeds into your off balance feeling as well as your intense fear of possibly passing out. That use to be my focus as well. Not until you let go of that thought will these symptoms subside.

Are you on medication, having therapy, seeing your doctor regularly?? There are many of us who can relate to what you are feeling. But first is to eliminate any physical issue that could be causing this. First things first. :) x

No MRI honestly to anxious to get one but blood work etc came back perfect BP was a little high as it always is in dr office but all was good. I was diagnosed w TMJ not sure if this is side effect but luckily this is not as common of pain as I used to get

I have neck pain, mild headaches, eye pain, ear pressure almost daily... have now for months. I assume its muscle tension, poor posture, digital screen syndrome, allergies, upper cross syndrome, anxiety, or all of the above. What helps me is good posture, managing your computer screen time, ergonomics, blue filter glasses, flonase, sinus rinse, biofreeze. MRI is a good idea as well if your doc thinks so too.

Bostonj, it's not just one thing that causes these symptoms but a combination of physical anomalies as well as attaching a negative mental thought. TMJ plays a big part in producing muscle contraction. No one realizes the amount of pressure exerted into each bite. When that bite is off, it sets off trigger points in the temporal mandibular joint which can cause anything from headaches, dizziness as well as face and neck pain. Seeing a dentist who can fit you with a night guard can help relax the over tensed muscles and may bring some relief.

I've been where you are so I do understand what you are experiencing as well as the fear behind the symptoms. Know that this too will pass in time. Keeping in touch with your doctor as well as working on Mind/Body relaxation techniques will help lower the stress as well as the symptoms.

My ears pop and don’t Un pop sometimes that is about it. Nothing to serious

in reply to Bostonj

You can close your eyes, pinch your nose, close your mouth, and exhale to pop them. Allergies can cause congestion, drainage which can clog your euchstacian tubes. Head pressure can also do this too.

I suffer with dizziness daily. Sore ear. Jaw. Tight neck and shoulders. Had MRI and came back clear. It's a nightmare x

This can be caused by the scm muscle in your neck, it can because of bad posture from looking at your mobile phone, tablet etc it can be caused by improper form when exercising etc etc..

I have had the same problem and it went on for years, headaches, ear aches, sinus infections, pains at top head, front of head, around the neck and chest. If your doctor has checked you fir other causes and they have come up negative you need to mention a muscle problem and get them to check it.

There are simple stretches that you can do 2-3 times per day that might sort this problem out. You need to look into scm muscle symptoms then go look at stretches to fix them. Vids available on YouTube.

Here is a link to some stretches that worked for me.

Give them a try, but make sure you get your doctor to check for muscle problems around your neck.

This is for you also Bostonj

Yes I have the worst posture especially on my hour bus ride into city and sit for extremely long periods of time as well! I do exercise and lift but surprisingly my posture is pretty good

in reply to Bostonj

I sit a lot too and I think it was causing my pain. I rarely get pain now.

Give the stretches a try, you might gain from them.

This is becoming more and more of a problem now stays due to tech neck. Your neck muscles are connected to everything, even your eyes! Between that and grinding at night... you can easily find yourself with these symptoms.

in reply to

Yes, if you strain one part of the scm muscle it can radiate pain into a lot of places in your head, cause all different problems.

My pain is in the occipitalis and trapezius

On the link I put there are also stretches for shoulder pain, they can help too.

I like you get terrible neck and left shoulder pain. Have had it probably every attack I have had. This month though I have had it the worst in my life. I have booked to see a massage clinic where they will do an assessment of my complaint then treat it. I have quite poor posture and am inactive as too busy with other things. My neck is not in a great position in sitting ir standing. I hunch over a bit and when I correct it it hurts. It needs sorting now......get yours checked before it keeps you off work like mine did. Let me know how you go.

Neck massages by trained professionals will get you better results than a chiropractor or physical therapist in my opinion.

There are many reasons that make us experience neck pain, thankfully, many of them aren’t concerning. Anxiety makes our bodies feel sore and in pain sometimes, so try looking for some alternative. I usually go to my chiropractor. I trust him because he doesn’t use any manual maneuvers and the table he uses doesn’t put any strain on your body. I have also tried massages and reflexology, which is surprisingly helpful for anxiety. When we’re anxious we carry a heavy burden on our shoulders (literally) so try easing up that weight by meditating, doing yoga and finding an activity that makes you feel peaceful. I understand your struggles, but we cannot faint!
