Constantly suffering from anxiety

Hi all. I’ve been on here a while now ready people’s post.

I thought I’d list some of my symptoms and see if anyone has similar.

I have been diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder by my GP

My symptoms starting last year. Really bad acid reflux and chest pains. So called my doctors who sent me to hospital. Where I had bloods , chest X-ray and ECG. Which all was normal. So diagnosed with GAD. Plus doctors said I had costochondritis. Pulled muscle in my chest.

I also felt light headed. Can’t concentrate at times. Occasionally blurry vision. Just couldn’t focus. and just felt urgh. It’s now 9 months later and still feel horrible. I feel this way most days and have also developed tinnitus. Which is so annoying. Had more blood tests two weeks ago. Which again are normal. But I am living with it every day. I have a councillor and she really helps me to get by. I just feel the symptoms stay at a constant level.

Never really had heart palpitations or racing. Sometimes really low on energy and feeling heavy.

Just wanted to know if anyone else is going through similar symptoms.

Yes, these can be symptoms of anxiety. If it continues you might consider speaking to a rheumatologist. They are more familiar with unusual symptoms, and might also help relieve your anxiety.

Hi Scruffy, I agree with b1 in that it may be time to see a Rheumatologist. After suffering with symptoms like yourself, I went to a doctor who diagnosed

me with Fibromyalgia. Included were all kinds of body pains as well as Costochondritis.

It is a very common after effect syndrome of Anxiety. The constant fear with Anxiety

causes the muscles, tendons and ligaments to tighten. *including the muscles behind the eyes, down the ear canal and chest wall muscles.

It's a very difficult disorder to diagnose because it doesn't show up in normal testing.

It takes a specialist such as a Rheumatologist to diagnose by the number of trigger points

and the location of them on your body. It is not a life threatening disorder but a life changing.

By that I mean, changing your life to be less hectic, less stressful. Using methods that relax

both the Mind and Body against stress. Physical therapy, water therapy, Meditation and Breathing can all help with ridding yourself of these painful trigger points.

Let us know if and when you see a doctor and get it addressed . I think you will feel more

assured which in itself will help you relax. We are here to support you :) xx

Hello… I think I’ve been going through the same thing as you. I’ve been having chest pains/ stabbings for about 5 months already. It’s on my left side, under my breast. I feel it a numerous times a day, for a few seconds. I’ve been to the E.R, had blood work done, urine tested, EKG, & chest X-ray. Everything’s normal… It’s really driving me crazy. I just wanna know where exactly it’s coming from, like is it my heart, a nerve, a muscle?

It’s very frustrating. My doctors just keep saying it’s anxiety. Had full blood work done a week ago to check for other things but came back all clear. Its hard when you just want to know what’s going on inside you but there seems to be no causes or injuries. Which should ease your mind but it doesn’t. Hard to believe anxiety can cause so many frightening symptoms. The problem is the mind it can play nasty tricks if this is all cause of anxiety.

There are days where it just gets to me & like, I get really depressed. But sometimes I am able to ignore it. Well when I keep myself busy lol… I hope you get better though! 😊

Hi Mr Scruff.

Random question but have you had Covid as many of these symptoms could be linked to Long Covid.

Cheers

Adam

Hi Adam. I believe I had Covid back in March 2020. Took two weeks to get my strength back. Never felt so drained and tired. Felt dizzy for around a week. But was feeling fine by summer 2020. Then felt really scared in October with chronic acid reflux and cheats pains. Doctors kept putting it down to General Anxiety Disorder and also said I had Costochondritis. Feel better than I did but still have a pains in my chest, still get shaky at times and find it hard to concentrate at times. But had several blood tests. Chest X-rays and ECGs and they tell me all is ok physically so still put it down to anxiety. I can only go on what doctors tell me. So I hope they are right.

Hope that helps any queries. But feel free to ask more. Take care

Nick
