Please help: I feel less like myself each... - Anxiety Support
Please help
Dear Lindsey14 Have you seen your GP ?.....maybe you need to speak to Anxiety support group or maybe you have a deficiency in some way...vitamins or minerals...Are you eating sensibly and eating enough ? My niece suffers from Fibramyalgia and gets what we refer to as ',foggy head'....I have Heamachromatosis -iron overload- and also get foggy head...days when I simply cannot think and have no energy to do anything......the first thing I would suggest is that you ask for your Thyroid to be tested.
Most things can be corrected so try not to worry too much...the important thing is that you see a GP who can reassure you.
I hope you have someone close you can confide in as this can make so much difference.
This is very common with anxiety you are not alone.
It sounds like your adrenal glands are struggling. Ask your dr for a 24 hr cortisol saliva test. (Bloods less accurate) Or you can get through blue horizon medicals privately.
I have excess cortisol (a steroid hormone) and this numbs emotions. Prolonged stress physical or emotional will effect cortisol levels.
Important to go out, exercise, laugh, take a meditation class all will help to lower cortisol.
NO, to be more accurate, you are sinking more into your mental illness(es). You say you "don't feel real"...look up derealization. Or read this: "A feeling that one's surroundings are not real; especially as a symptom of mental disturbance."
Now, that's oversimplifying derealization, but I've been there when I wasn't sleeping much for 2 or 3 days in a row, getting 5 hours and then repeating being unable to sleep again for 2 or 3 days. That's severe sleep deprivation for me. And you're writing this under the Anxiety Support group headline so I'm guessing you have significant anxiety problems. Anxiety can keep you from sleeping or sleeping adequately. So everything you've described so far can be due to sleep deprivation, anxiety or another mental illness or a combination of these. Possibly you feel this way due to other reasons like those suggested here but you need to see a doctor right away. What have you done to get help?
My advice: Call a friend or family member or even a paid ride for help if you need it to get to a doctor: Then do the following: (1) Do tomorrow what you have to to get seen/talk to your own doctor you already know, or (2) go to a walk-in type of clinic or Emergency Room in the US or the British version of either if you must, but GET SEEN OR HEARD. You either need sleep medication, anxiety or other psychiatric medication or a referral to track down some of the other suggestions given here. I say TOMORROW because the 3 things I mention need attention NOW. Don't let it get worse. Worse is here.
Take your own description of your problem that you wrote today with you and take the dictionary definition I gave you of derealization just in case you get lost for words to describe your problem when you see a doctor. If you haven't been sleeping adequately it's time to accept help. Just tell your story and insist on getting some kind of help, even if it's a referral to a different kind of doctor. You must start the process of getting better. Please don't wait. Love yourself and take care of yourself. I'll watch to see if you write anything tomorrow as I can.
Thank you
I hope you're eating right and excercising and doing all things that are good for you that Maribee mentioned...I've just assumed you know to do these things. And tests for thyroid function, vitamin or other deficiencies, or adrenal insufficiency could be great, even helpful...but I hope you do get these more urgent problems I mentioned ruled in or out right away.
