Im still the same no change, its 4.14am here so im actually exhausted.. i thought if i came on here it would take my mind off it but iwas wrong. this constant lump in my throat is so scary, plus like my im tring to get upp saliva its not working and its like glands are coming up if that makes sense. i even drink peppermint tea
I'm sorry it continues...It sounds like you are very dry mouthed and possibly the peppermint tea may be causing that. More than taking your mind off the sensation you are feeling, you need to relax those muscles in your throat. I'm sure your neck and shoulders are being held tensely which isn't allowing for you to relax.
I would suggest getting out of bed and finding a comfortable chair that you can sit in until you can calm down. Place a small pillow behind your back, wrap a warm bath towel right out of the dryer around your shoulders, neck and throat. Cover your legs with a small blanket as well. Have the lights dim, and sip on a cup of warm water. Watch tv or read a book until your eyes get sleepy. As you get drowsy the adrenaline will go down which will allow the muscles to relax. Breathe deeply and exhale slowly which will reduce the fear and tightness in your body. It's all about not fighting the symptoms but allowing the body to accept this is not dangerous. It may be scary, but it will pass. Breathe...The warm water will relax the throat muscles. You are most likely mouth breathing right now making the symptoms worse. You are safe, You will be okay. Breathe and relax. Peace and calm..
PORegan31, just to add that the lump in the throat is a common symptom of anxiety, at least one person a week reports here with it, I had it about 20 years ago. It's called Globus Hystericus and it's just our sensitised nerves playing tricks on us. If you have your throat scanned nothing will be found because you can't scan or x-ray anxiety. Although it has unsettled you it is harmless.
As with all the symptoms of anxiety including panic attack, the fear hormone we produce only prolongs the bad feeling because sensitive nerves thrive on fear hormone.
So instead of fearing the symptoms stop fighting them and accept them. That's right, accept them for the time being knowing full well that anxiety symptoms can't kill you, disable you or send you insane. If you can accept the symptoms instead of letting them frighten you half to death you break the chain of symptoms-fear-symptoms-fear and your nervous system relaxes.
So when having an episode say to yourself: "So I'm having a panic attack, so what? It's not nice but it can't harm me so I'll just accept it for the moment, why not? I'm not having a good day but who cares? Tomorrow may be a good day. So I'll just get on with my life despite the way I feel. I've got better things to do with my life than sitting around worrying about a glitch in my nervous system. Anxiety, you can f**k off!"
And do read for a second time the advice that Agora1 has given you here, she knows more than anyone how to deal with anxiety disorder and panic attacks.
Thanks so much 😊 never thought if them like that, ive been gettin them awhile now and nothing like i experienced last nite was like any other. Globus h, never heard it before but its nice to know there a word for it. Like today if feel drained and exhausted and beileve it or not my throat is so so sore and with the acid reflux i have too ive been gettin sick so ive been on a rollacaster.
