Hi Buda369, that lump we feel in our throat is actually coming from the muscles being tight because of our anxiety. It won't do any harm, just feels uncomfortable for a while. The more we think about it, the tighter the muscles get. I have it right now myself but it no longer scares me because I know it will go away soon. It helps to sip on something warm, I just had some ice cream and it made it a little tighter. You know already if it isn't one fear, the anxiety will pick something else to keep you guessing. You will be okay. It's playing a game with our minds, don't let it win.

Why are you uncomfortable with people? Are you shy or are you afraid you may have an anxiety symptom appear? You don't want to avoid them or you will become agoraphobic like I was for many years. Afraid to leave my own house. Not a good way to live.

I am afraid that i will look like a fool ... because when lump in throat seems to appear ... a thing that calms little bit is to do a noise like i am cleaning my throat ... and for someone that doesnt know what i am feeling..will say ... what a fool or somethong like that..

Oh I see. Yeah, I tend to clear my throat a lot as well when I feel that lump. I'm sure people wouldn't think that of you, but I realize that it makes you uncomfortable having to experience that feeling. Just don't get stuck in the house like I did, it gets real lonely fast. We all need people around us. But, that's why we are here at the forum to listen to each other and help support and care about each other.

That is difficult Buda. Are there others in your country that you can talk to about this? There must be others who feel the same way you do. Getting support from people who also think like you do will help. I understand what you are saying in that your mind says, just stay alone so as to not be laughed at. I wish I knew the answer.

Yes, it does change forms once you lose fear in certain symptoms. I too have experienced the lump in the throat. It goes away. Sometimes a good, long, hard cry works great! ☺🙄

I went to my doctor when I first started getting anxious. I made him look in my throat numerous times because I swore there was something in it! It was anxiety creating that sensation with tightened muscles. I would try to belch to make it go away, swallow a lot, drink water, take anti acids but in the end it subsided when I became less anxious. Try a little meditation and relaxation. I took a meditation class and I would feel better afterwards.
